Amusement Park Entertainment

Title pretty much sums it up...

Which park do you think has the best entertainment? What shows do you remember the most and from what park?

Well teh big theme park players have great entertainment. Disney and Busch Gardens Europe. have amazing shows. I have heard good things about Dollywood.

as for New England:
Santa's Village offers really good shows for a smaller park. they have been nominated for Big e awards at IAAPA for their show for the last few years winning in 2007.
Lake Compounce - has reasonably good shows.
Canobie Lake Park - The park has been inconstant in teh last few years. some shows have been very good while others are lacking. They have had some amazing shows. especially those by Simon will productions.

I was impressed with Dollywood's Christmas shows when I went. I like the ice shows at Cedar Point and King's Island. However I despised King's Island's Halloween shows during Halloween Haunt. I know its for adults, but come on....I was embarrased to be there with my dad. Half naked women swinging on poles making suggestive dances were at one show and bad language mixed in with cheesey eighties rock at another. You can have a lot of intense scary fun with Halloween without getting into softcore porn. I felt uneasy seeing these things taking place at a park that is usually very family friendly during the day.

I really enjoyed the Sea Lion, Dolphin, and Whale show at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom last month. They all had a Christmas theme and were really fun to watch.

I also enjoy Cedar Point's entertainment. I've only seen one show during the summer and only because it was raining, but it was fun. I also saw their one man Edgar Allen Poe show this past HalloWeekends and was very impressed. I saw his take on The Black Cat and loved it...I should have stayed for Tell Tale Heart and Raven.

Most parks are pretty average with average singers and such.

I'm picky because I actually do sing myself, and I walk by some shows thinkin "Aheesh! Hit the notes already!".

That said, I probably enjoyed Dollywood's Christmas show from about 2 years ago the best.

Most parks I never see the shows, becuase of the aforementioned reasons.

I can only speak about the awesome shows that Disney puts together. Most of the time when i visit a park i almost forget about the entertainment side but from what i do remeber Hersheypark had some very good shows in 2004 and Carowinds had amazing shows back in the late 80's-mid 90's.

I just don't really take the time out of my day to watch the shows although i wish i would have so i think from now on i will make an effort to see what each park has.

Dollywood has some great shows. The only one I really remember is Smokey Mountain Christmas.

SFOG has average shows. The Wild West Comedy Gun Fight was funny. Didn't like Rythm & Grooves much.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas!
My favorite annual show is the Rockin at Rockville High (a musical based in the 1950s)
The best show from this past summer was Blast!, which is like Marching Band Indoors. There was a drum battle, and many different fun songs the brass played while the color guard spun their equipment. It was an amazing break from the Texas Sun.

I just love walking aroung Fiesta Texas and hearing the music come from the outdoor theaters. They never lip synch and their singers have been offered numerous record deals (and yes they truned the deals down to stay at Fiesta).
Oh yeah the story of Texas displayed on the cliff walls during the fireworks show is incredible.

I believe you're speaking of DCI's Blast.... DCI, drum corps international, is known as Marching Band Major League...

Forgot to mention Finding Nemo: The Musical at Animal Kingdom.
That was awesome; just awesome.

I love Festival of The Lion King. That is by far the best show i have seen at any of the parks i have been to. Nemo would be 2nd.

If parks like SF & CF had the budget for shows like this it would be a different story.

I really havent seen to many shows at parks but i have to agree that Lion King one at Disney is pretty good. Kennywood needs to keep some good shows. the Diving and Lumberjack shows are TERRIBLE. The one they do on the other stage near the patch is pretty funny though(forget the name).

I know what DCI's blast is (I was accepted into Crossmen's horn line as a 1st part trumpet in my sophomore year of high school), but this wasnt DCI's Blast. Six Flags did use some of their performers and used some of the songs, but it was never associated with DCI and it didnt tour it stayed at Fiesta all summer.

I still want to see Blast! in a bad way. titancoaster, when were you in Crossmen? I got to attend one of their practices while I when I was a senior in my high school marching band, this would have been the 2002 season. I play mallet percussion but never did any marching bands after high school because OSUMB doesn't have a pit.

As for live shows - I'll agree with Ryan F on the Halloweekends entertainment. I saw the one-man show (I only saw The Raven) and it really was great. He really stepped into the role, which is hard to do for a Poe character. I usually don't watch any shows at the parks, to be honest, but at CP we got hot and tired and took a break by watching the Molly and Maverick show. It was cute and well worth the time out of the heat to watch.

Um, it was summer of 07, I know they are not the best corp, buut I mean I was a sophomore on first part.
Hopefully you can come to Fiesta this summer, usually shows in the main theater at Fiesta Texas play two summers in a row.

Busch Gardens Europe has some of the best shows. Emerald beat and Kinetix being my favorites. Kinetix was absolutly amazing, never seen a show that amazing at a theme park. Also all of BGE's howl o scream shows were great.
