Mr. Six strikes back

It seems that our former Six Flags friend, Mr. Six, is coming back from the dead!

If you visit the official Six Flags homepage, you'll see his face prominently displayed up on the main screen!

I present to you, Exhibit A.

Quote:
And according to Wikipedia (I know "it's editable", but take it for what it's worth):

It has been recently leaked by a Six Flags employee that “Mr. Six” is coming out of retirement, and that he will be prominently featured in many of its 2009 advertising campaigns, as well as an in park walk around personality. In fact, as of February 2, 2009, he was appearing in place of the previous character in the "More Flags, More Fun" ads on Six Flags' website.
It seems that he's replaced the Asian character that use to be in that circle. Thoughts on his rather strange return from the dead?

There will be less backlash now from not using the Asian guy I guess. It's a neat combination of both campaigns. I still do not want Mr. Six to talk and I welcome him back.

The original commercial was so out of whack because he was innocent with the "It's Playtime!" campaign and dancing to that Vengabus tune. The two are the farthest of going together but they did. They somehow made it work with an old guy to allow me to give Six Flags a chance with that commercial.

The same way a CLOWN makes you think "let's eat at McDonalds;" or a MONKEY makes you think "Subway subs; think fresh."

Seriously, he's a mascot. And from what I remember, a pretty popular one.

I learned from James' avatar that apparently Jeepers has that tie to monkies. I didn't know that til recently. Look at the rise/return of the King. He's just more of a pimp now, the Burger King. Doesn't talk like some other OLD man.

Man, I realize how long he's been gone now. I was Mr. Six at least one/twice for Halloween and been Batman ever since. Mr. Six might make a Halloween costume return for me if he has a big year.

Well I guess its just me then. Wait no, based off other posts in this topic some do agree with me.

At least the "more flags" guy was showing people on rides and such having fun. And lets not forget when SF's mascots was like.. you know.. Bugs Bunny.

I kinda wish SF would just go back to selling their parks in ads with like.. video of their parks.... SO BIG, SO CLOSE! style.

Because a bunch of coaster enthusiasts on a message board represent a majority of our population, right?

From what I remember with my younger cousins, they all loved him. My parents, aunts, and uncles also thought they were pretty good commercials. Now, unless my family is completely different than every other family in North America, I think it's safe to say Mr. Six was pretty popular.

lol. My (non-coaster) friends didn't like it. Nor did my family. My mom even went as far to say he was "gross".

Nobody I know liked that Mr. Six image either. Batman, Bugs Bunny, and all the rest of the Looney Tunes and DC Comics characters have always served as the animated representatives of Six Flags....there was no need to change that.

All I cared about was my first grade teacher friend my age liked that I dressed like Mr. Six for Halloween. I'll take her approval. I teased her too that she should have become an EAGLES cheerleader too cause she looked like that. About a year ago she borrowed the glasses and bow tie I had to be Mr. Six for her class. I know the kids loved that. Another friend showed me a Youtube video of school kids dressed up like Mr. Six and dancing in the gym for a talent show. He is loved.

But mascots do just so well. Look at Geico, the Gecko and the Caveman are very popular. Anybody living in this country would be able to identify them.

I think Mr. Six had a pretty similar impact. I personally think of Six Flags every time I hear the Vengabus, and I've known that song way before that commercial came out.

"We like to Party" is such a light song from the 90's that they went together quite well. Thank God it wasn't "Who Let the Dogs Out" and Mr. Met wasn't involved.

YES!

Although I would love for them to incorporate more of the WB characters into the Six Flags brand, I really think this does the job well. As soon as people hear this song they think of Six Flags, as soon as they see the old man dancing, they think of Six Flags. And when it comes to advertising, well, you really can't ask for much more.

Can't wait to see the new commercials, good move SF!

I'm looking forward to seeing how the new comercials will effect the general public's view of Six Flags. Oh and to see a fellow park employee running around in a Mr. Six costume!!!

Mr. Six talked! That's not the voice I pictured. I actually preferred the Asian guy screaming.

He hardly gets to dance but it does recycle 2 advertising campaigns, meshing them together. They have to save money desperately so I guess this is a reasonable effort. At least there's no Flight Decks mulling around.

I like Mr. Six better than the other "Six Flags, more flags" commercial. The other commercial was kind of stupid.

I don't mind Mr. Six.

However, finally giving him a distinct voice was a mistake (IMHO). Part of his appeal was that he didn't have a voice and was just a mysterious old man that dances.

The posted video has been removed. here si another one.

<object width="480" height="295"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/w4auC4-1XNQ&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/w4auC4-1XNQ&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="295"></embed></object>

The commercial is terrible. The voice makes no sense. I think there are using the same guy form last year not the original MR Six performer. Leave it to SFI to take a good thing and make it terrible.

Ugggh, "I know, lets take Mr Six who sucked and combine it with the Asian guy commercials that some people found racist!"

Yes, combining two TERRIBLE commercials into one new commercial, sounds like the best idea ever.
