That was an existing structure there, the theater. Why not use it?

I was looking at maps, googling the former outlet mall. It had to be the airport that shaped the orientation of the park.

How many shows dose the park need. Too many shows and not enough rides was one of the complaints about the park last year. they woudl still have what 4 or 5 other shows. That's not including the concert series.

I'm sure the air port had a lot to do with what was built were and will affect future additions.

I'm stuck with old maps without the park there on mapquest and google but imagining where The Time Machine is and where the main entrance is, completely opposite facing of 501, that's probably all under the relation of the approach to the nearby airport.

How many shows does Dollywood have? I remember the near handful.

HA! What does Dollywood have to do with anything??? DW only has two major productions, Sha-Kon-O-Hey, and Dreamland Drive In (My Avatar). They have some minor productions like Country crossroads and some bands here and there.

That's the handful right there, all within a day's drive.

I'm guessing that you have to look at both sides of the arguement; the main reason to go to an amusement park is for the rides, however, there are some people who only go for the shows. I saw somewhere on TV that there are some people who go just for the food.

Dollywood dose have a good sized show selection. My local park Canobie lake has 1 major show and 3 smaller ones. but Dollywood and canobie have something FSMP doesn't, A ride selection.

Seems FSMP is being sued yet again by the former HRP:

They got their 4 or so attractions they picked right off the shelf already. The new show would be part of the balance. Maybe if they get through the waters of this year they could go for something bigger like a rock themed Topspin for next year. I wonder what could fit in Phonehenge's spot.

From what I can get the area is around 60 by 120ft. To be honest they have a lot of theaters. Is a stunt show really something they need. not really in my mind. They could remove that building and have a path round the back of RPM. would open up a lot of space for rides.

HRP Creative Services filed suit against FMP saying that they didn't do enough to distinguish themselves. What bull once again. Don't threaten the park opening.

Anyone wanting to read about it can find the link 2 posts back.

I think they did a lot to redo things. they can;t expect them to get new cars for the rides or completely reface a generically themed area. I don't see any judge making them or requiring the to pay for what they have.

Reading the fsmpblog it seems Roundabout was running. That's encouraging.

I need to take a pic of the Hard Rock Parkway signs that still exist on the one road before they really move to ask the county to change them.

Good to hear that the Judge ruled in their favor. I look forward to seeing any trip reports for the park.

Yeah that lawsuit business was kind of a low blow, especially so close to the parks opening.

They should be so lucky that a company was willing to take the park off their hands.

I also look forward to a trip report or photos! Maybe they added some trees?

At most I was expected to hear that the judge wanted them to pay for or remove certain things like the Guitar fountain.

Discover Myrtle Beach had a lot of photos from a media preview.

Ya the park is looking pretty good. I really don't get the painted pots in the rock garden.

There used to be metal sculptures there from what I understand. The pots are a very quick fill in.

Watching a video on the Tube I found it interesting when you get the 90's track onboard The Time Machine at Freestyle Music Park, Myrtle Beach, you can corkscrew and end your ride with the Spice Girls and Third Eye Blind. When the phrase"Zigga zig ahhh" first came up with the Spice Girls I didn't think of riding a rollercoaster with them corkscrewing at first. hahaha

There will be a show about the making of Hard Rock Park that comes on the Science Channel next Wednesday. I don't remember what time it will come on, but it's supposed to be about the construction of the park.

Now I'll have to bring my Dollywood guitar shirt. I'll wear my HRP shirt to take a pic with a Hard Rock Parkway sign but I don't want to wear it in the park and give it bad karma.
