Holiday World crowds on opening day

Anyone ever been to Holiday World on opening day? What are the crowds like?

I'm debating about spending 2 days there, only to get a good amount of laps in on Voyage. If the crowds are low, I'll only do one day. I'm wondering if it's going to be fairly empty, because there's nothing new opening on opening day (Pilgrim's Plunge won't open until later in the month) and Splashin' Safari won't be open yet either.

^Doesn't Pilgrams Plung open on opening day?

On the front page of Holiday World's website it reads:
Quote:
Have you seen Pilgrims Plunge's tower? It's huge! (Click on the "WebCam/Weather" link to the left for a peek.) We look forward to seeing you and your family on May 2 for the opening of the World's Tallest Water Ride, Pilgrims Plunge!

From this I it sounds as if it does open on May 2nd with the rest of the park.

Ok, I could have sworn that I'd read an interview with Paula that it wasn't going to be open until later in May. I'm probably mistaken.

Well, I can cross my fingers that Pilgrim's Plunge will keep everyone away from the coasters... right?

Right that you can cross your fingers. Right about it working? I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

Probably.

Pilgrims Plunge opens May 2, the first day of our season. We don't expect to be "packed" however it's been a long, cold coaster-free winter for loads of folks.

Enjoy your visit!

Hi Paula!

Any insight on to whether I should plan for two days? I'm sure you'll appreciate the extra business. I'm wondering if it's like most parks where Saturdays will be crazy but Sundays are dead.

Everyone's so different in what they consider "busy" ... you may well be happy with just one day. Then again, one day of our coasters when it could be two? Well, that's an easy answer.

Well, you've got me there.

To me, a busy day is waiting an hour for every coaster. It's hard to compare a busy day at Kings Island (my home park) to a busy day at Holiday World, simply because a busy day at KI is when the 'little' coasters which are usually walk on (such as Racer, Flight Deck, and Backlot Stunt Coaster) have 30-45 minute waits. I'm kind of doubting any of the three amazing coasters at Holiday World are ever walk on!

Yep, the Holiday World discount is one of the biggest reasons I decided to join ACE recently. Then I looked at all the events they are a part of, and it was a definite. I'm going to at least 3 ACE events this year with my shiny new membership card.

Brilliantly put. And at the end of May, I'll take two, thanks!
