Longest Unneccessary Queue Line?

What coasters just have lines that are just too big IN SIZE, not the longest in amount of time? What coasters just never fill they're queue lines at all, so much so that it would be possible to elimate a huge queue almost entirly and build a ride or something else there? My example would have to be American Eagle at SFGAM. The line is HUGE. It fills a big carnival like tent before strecting out over a service road and under the station of the ride itself. They could totally get rid of this part of the line. It is not needed at all and if it ever was, it would ahve to be about a five hour wait. Becuase the only way it could fill up that much is if they were running only one side of it and then the line really would be about 5 hours.

Having never been there, I hear people talk about the Dueling Dragons queue being huge, and virtually always empty...but thats just from what I've heard.

Apollo's Chariot's queue is too long if you ask me. In all my years of going to BGW, I have not once seen the line backed up underneath the coaster lift, let alone up in the tent area of the queue....but there again I never go on holidays, and not on weekends if I can help it...so if it's ever used, I've never witnessed it.

Dueling Dragons. That line is LITERALLY longer than the ride time. It took forever to go through! I heard somewhere that, if the entire thing were open, it would be over a mile long.

Deuling Dragons (IOA) , Iron Dragon (CP), Thunder Canyon (CP). Just to name a few.

Hulk! That thing covers like an acer! When I was there the wait wasn't even outside, it didn't even streach down the zig zag ramp to the station! That QUeue was downright HUGE!

By the way, this is a poll

That line was just too long! Good thing it had the most extraordinary theming on the planet in a queue or it would really suck to go through the 1.2 miles of queue!

Probably DD. Hulk? That was almost full when I went (I queued about 45 mins. Worth it, though.

hurler at PKD. the ride is basically walk-on, but you have to go under the track a few times and all around it to get there.

pretty much every coaster at CP has a long queue but a short line, look at Gemini or Mean Streak for example. Millenium Force, Raptor, and at times the Magnum and Mantis are at least mostly full.

But Dueling Dragons takes the cake. It's VERY lond and VERY empty(people waiting for it that is).

A few that come to mind:

American Eagle SFGAM. There may be no use for all the queue under the tents now, but when it opened, they were always full!

Mean Streak - Its long enough just walking down the path under the coaster to the station, but then you've got a mile of zig zags sometimes!

Dueling Dragons - Like everyone else said, the line is cool but very very long. So long that people get lost in it!

Space Mountain wdw: They sometimes need all of the line, but when they don't, that tunnel is a long way to walk.

Shockwave SFGAm: The line is never full anyway, so they don't need the whole zig zag part.

Top Gun PKI: Another coaster where you have to walk forever just to get to the end of the line.

Deuling Dragons line is very long, that's true, but I'd be hesitant to remove any bit of it because of the disruption to the beautiful theming (which most people here will agree is among the best).

What you have to remember is that nearly every ride has queue space that isn't used periodically, but you have to look at it on the busiest days of the season. At Cedar Point, for example, on weekends in July and August, the Iron Dragon's queue will be filled, and sometimes even onto the midway. I'm sure other coasters are similar. Parks do look at what the line typically looks like compared to the busier days when they make decisions to remove parts of queue lines, but they have to really consider the impact of the busiest days -- when people will be more apt to complain anyway, especially if lines are disorganized out on the midway because the queues are too short.

Personally, I'd prefer to have a longer queue to walk through -- you know you're in line and no one's getting ahead of you, but the walk takes up time instead of just standing there waiting. Especially when, like at Islands of Adventure, you have something to look at while walking!

Mean Streak has a long queue line, and so does Top Gun at PKI, which takes forever to get to the roller coaster.

I've never been on Dueling Dragons, so I wouldn't know..

Yes, DD is incredibly long, but at least its themed beautifuly and is pleasant to walk through.

Not once at SFGADV have I ever waited in line for Great American Scream Machine. I'm sure when it opened the line was terrible, but now all you do is walk past the rows and rows of queue lines.

To add to Top Gun at PKI just thought you'd all like to know that 1/3 the cost of Top Gun was land clearing and construction of the que line.

I agree with the case for American Eagle. That queue line under the tent never fills up anymore, even on busy days. I think that it will be the case with SOB as well.

Dueling Dragon's line is so long, I got lost once. It is one of the most beautifully themed queues that I've been in, though.

Usually Mean Streak or Iron Dragon. Gemini has about 4 rows to go through, and even if its line reaches the midway, it's still 20 minutes waiting. On most days that I got to CP this year, MS and ID had short lines that didn't require the massive queue.

I think Dueling Dragons has the longest que. When i went there I was shocked to see how emptey it was, it seemed like DD would be one of the most popular attactions at IOA. Mayby they made it so long so you think the line is really short when its really not. I waited over and hour for Hulk, its line was full and went outside of the building. I think CP has good sized que lines, as mentioned before they have to plan for there busiest days. The que area for the walkon coasters isnt to big imo w/ the exception of mean steak, which was probably supposed to be more popular then what it is.

Dueling Dragons line is way too long, the line stretches outside of the castle, but I've never seen the line ever be that long, when I went I walked along while in that castle.

I would have to say alot of the parks i got to have way to much extra queue. But the most i seen that wasent filled was eather meanstreak at cedarpoint or batman the ride at SFGADV,When i saw meanstreaks queue and i had to walk all around it to get to the end of the line i was so surprised at how long a park can make a line, since seeing somthing of that size was preety new to me.I feel bad for anyone who had to wait that maybe when it first opened? and as for batman the ride i had to wait its whole queue once and it took forever i would say about 3hrs 30mins but now it never fills over 1hr.Oh yea and alot of log flume type rides at parks also have extra queue that dosent usaly fill up that much and if they did i think the people waiting would be there all day!

I don't think this should have been moved to polls. Just becuase it is a topic asking people's opinions doesn't mean it should automatically be moved to polls. It would be different if I just made a list of coasters to vote on, but I didn't. I'm asking people to tell about these coasters and how and why these lines are too long. It wasn't meant to be a poll, please reconsider and move it back to American Coasters. I doubt that you will, but I believe that is where it should go.
