| Holiday Spending
Just curious if anyone else budgets for the holidays. My husband and I spend only $200 on one another -- we both write our "wish list" on an envelope, and the $$$ goes into the envelope. Then, he gets the one with my list and vice versa, and while we're shopping that is the only money we're allowed to spend. Any change goes right back into the envelope, and when it's empty you know you're done. It's actually really fulfilling to be able to budget this way, putting together lists but knowing you have to prioritize because the cash is not unlimited, so you've really thought about what you do buy for the other person. Not a thing, incidentally, goes onto any credit cards. As for shopping for others, we will spend anywhere from $20 - $60 on other people, depending on who they are and what we buy, according to our relationship with them. And of course they all share in the baking I do -- 23 recipes strong, $60 of ingredients this year. ![]() So for the poll question -- how much will you spend on your significant other this year? Husband, wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, fiance... Just a curiosity!

Well I spent about 60 dollars. About 40 for 2 gifts for my girlfriend and 20 for a T-shirt for myself.

I would say 25-50 dollars. Yes, I know, I'm stingy.

We usually only spend about $100 on each other. Mostly, we get something for our house--some furniture or do some sort of home improvement. This year we just bought a new car that we've had our eye on all summer. The interest rates finally got down where we wanted them. After that, we decided to put the brakes on Christmas spending, so to speak.

$250-$500 Just because I got my new job and an abundant cash flow is coming in. I like my job! Yes, very much.

I bought my girlfriend a $20 gift certificate(we'd been going out for like 2 weeks), but we broke up. I'm just gonna spend it myself now, since I already bought my family presents.

I was real cheap this year, cause I had like NO money. But, I spent between $10-$30 on the people who I'm really close with and my good friends at school, and then for the rest I got cards and some candy for them.

Well, it's not the size of the bills that matters, but that you've thought of those people that are special in your life and shown them how much they mean to you at this time of the year and always. I'd much rather have heartfelt gifts from someone, rather than have someone throw money at me. Friendship (and family) can't be purchased. Merry Christmas, everyone!
