Okay, I've been thinking about the infamous "cola wars", and wondered why there'd been none for peanut butter. After all, there are two distinct varieties that sandwich spread users will debate ad infinitum...

Myself, I'm a crunchy user. While smooth will do with no other choice available, I do prefer crunchy; the texture totally makes the difference. My prefered accompaniments are fruit jellys, including strawberry and raspberry especially. Peanut butter with marshmallow creme is marvelous -- nice and fluffy. My father enjoys peanut butter with honey, but that was just a bit too sticky for me.

I like mine smooth. When I eat peanut butter and jelly, I dont want to bite into something hard. I like the smooth feel in my mouth. I hate peanuts, but I love peanut butter.

I am slightly partial to crunchy. But smooth is okay too.

I like the smooth peanut butter, it tastes so good, it is easier to spread too!

I usually have smooth but, I am partial to chunky, So if I had to pick, i would say Chunky, I love Peanut Butter! On everything, especially chocolate!

It depends for me, if I'm just eating it out of the jar then I like crunchy more, but if I'm putting it on a peanut butter & jelly sandwich then I prefer smooth.

If I eat a little out of the jar, smooth.

But if it's in a sandwich, crunchy. I LOVE crunchy sandwiches.

My favorite type is cruncy. The little bits of peanut add that extra something that I like.

crunchy is the best. i love a ton of peanuts in my peanut butter like melissa said it adds texture. heck i'll just put a jar of peanuts on my slice and put a tab of butter.

Looks like I'll be the first person to reply "Funky." I love that Goober Grape peanut butter/jelly combo. The peanut butter stripes are so creamy and delicious, just the perfect texture, and the jelly is great. You all should try it... I guarantee you'll see the light.

I always buy smooth--crunchy has that annoying habit of tearing up the bread when you try to spread it. Besides, all those peanuts get stuck in my teeth.

I don't find that crunchy tears up the bread -- but then again, I put *so much* on the bread it really isn't so much spreading it out as flattening the giant lump...

Now that sounds like something I need to try! I prefer smooth. I hate biting down on my infamous Quadrouple PB&J's and feeling crunch. I'm a purist, sue me. My favorite brand is actually an store brand, Giant Eagle. They're a local grocery store chain in Ohio, WV and Pennsylvania. I just happen to work for them. But, it really is the best kind I've ever had!

Smooth, but I find the new Skippy kind with the Nestle Crunch and Choclate Chips to be... interesting. I can't really taste it though. I like my PBJ's with a little butter, it really adds to the taste .

In recipes, the "peanut butter" cookies I make have to use crunchy -- it just isn't the same without that texture, but I don't add any extra peanuts to it. I have a second peanut butter cookie recipe that has a hershey's kiss on the top of the cookie, and for that one I use smooth so it doesn't interefere with how it looks. A few other recipes use peanut butter as an ingredient, but because they're not PB cookies I always use smooth there too. They both have their uses!

I used to like crunchy but now I like smooth. I think I converted after I got braces because the peanuts would get stuck in my braces and hurt really bad. It's gotta be a mental thing since I think crunchy peanut butter is going to hurt every time I eat it now. I'm cool with smooth, though. It's not gonna kill me if I can't eat it

Thought I was the only one who did that! That and Hershey's candy bars dipped in peanut butter. Good stuff!
