| Favorite War?
I have an upsession with learning, and being told stories about wars. I always go to war movies, and I always love to hear from people who have fought in a war. I think that my favorite war to learn and be around is WW2. Next I would say the Revolutionary War. I was just wondering what war you people like to hear, and learn about most. Or if you dont like to hear about wars, then thats fine too. Just post what you think.

The Civil War is my favorite. I always love to watch things on The History Channel about it. And this war happened in our own backyard.

Desert Storm, Civil and Vietnam Wars. D.S. because my cousin went in it shortly after I flew down to Georgia for a baptism. It was the most recent war to date anyhow. Civil only because it is one that I was only interested in. About 5 years long and I could even teach it to younger kids. The reason I say Vietnam is because of what had happened 32 years ago this may. The students and the guardsmen at Kent State.

I don't really have a "favorite" war, but I do enjoy watching stuff on WWII, like old movies on it and watching stuff on the history channel on it. My dad was in it too, and he had some interesting stories, but I don't really like any war; I wish we could just get along.

Favorite war? You like war? Wow, who are you, Saddam Hussein or Adolf Hitler? Perhaps you should rephrase your question, which war history interests you the most. From the way you're asking the question, it seems like you love to see the misery of people get caught in war.

Wars are my favorite subject to learn about. My favorite war to learn about is World War II, then the Civil War, then Vietnam, Revolutionary, World War I, and Korean. I also like learning about the Napoleonic Wars and medieval combat. And Desert Storm wasn't a war. It was an operation during the Gulf War. That's like saying that Operation Overlord (D-Day) was a war. Last edited by Cobra; 04-21-2002 at 05:39 PM. |

Typically, wars are what fill the history books because that's the time of greatest upheaval, change, and altering the course of a nation's future. All wars do this to some degree, and the one I enjoy the history of the most is the Vietnam War -- my father was drafted into it and served outside Saigon; he has some great tales about life in the service on that side of it. As for teaching it, I'd say my students most appreciate the World War II units, because that's material they're most familiar with and is most like life today (considering the time constraints of teaching that we don't get far beyond WWII). Personally, while learning about it and studying it is one matter, I find war atrocious and despicable in any form, despite how much it is a fact of life. But that's just me, I suppose.

How can there be a favorite war. I mean, majority involves thousands or millions killed. I don't like that idea. So I don't like war. Nope. But yeah, Star Wars is one of the better ones... |

Well, this is certainly a unique topic. I don't really have a "favorite war", but I voted for World War II for a couple reasons. First of all, there's a lot of information on it, and it can be very interesting to study. Second of all, I feel as though it's part of my family history. My dad's family lived in Greece during the war, and my relatives had to survive the horror of the war and the Nazi camps. And if ficticous wars qualify, then definatly Star Wars .

WWII, probably because I know so much about it and I've always been pretty interested in it.

I'd have to say the Vietnam War. Cause well im vietnamese and my whole family, both sides, had to escape from the war in boats and the such. my grandfather was a marine captain on the south side. my great uncle was a general for the communists. and well i've heard alot of stories. lots of my relatives died in the war. but im a little grateful for the war mainly cause well it brought my family to the US, without the war i would still be in Vietnam, which im not saying is bad but i have more opportunities here. so i guess thats a positive. second would be WWII i just know the most about it, most of which ive read by myself out of interest, the other half from school. |

Seeing as how one of the options in the poll was "I don't like to learn about wars," that's the basis of this poll, learning about wars. Granted wars are seldom good, and anytime the US isn't involved, they always seem to stick their nose in. Maybe that clears it ups about "favorite wars" as "favorite wars to LEARN about."

The war I am most interested in learning about is, off course WWII. No other war was fought on so many different corners of the war, nor impacted so many people's life.

I don't really enjoy wars, because a war means fighing and figting means killing, massacreing, and causing bloodshed. I don't find them interesting, and am glad that there is no war going on in the US right now. Why fight? I don't know. I know you mean favorite to learn about, but I'm not a big learning person myself anyway. My friend had a brother who followed Adolf Hitler. This is really sad, but this 18 year old kid went and killed himself This is how serious some people are about this stuff, and I don't want to be. Sure I'm happy the US is able to win wars, just to end them. Why can't we all get along?

I like learning about World War 2. I find it very interesting. I also like learning about The Revolutionary Way and the Cival War. Sometimes I watch shows on the History Channel about wars.

| WW1
Ya know its weird, that WW1 always seems to be overshadowed by other wars. I think sinve WW2 was much larger, there were more deaths, and Europe was almost all taken over, and the Holocuast took place that time period. I just think that WW1 was overshadowed. You will almost always see a special on WW2 and never on WW1. Does anyone here know a lot about WW1?
