| The best bobsled coasters.
Heres a question i was wondering about. Who makes better bobsled coasters Intamin or Mack?

I don't think either are really that great. I here the old flying bobs at old parks like Riverview and Euclid Beach (I think) were much better and more thrilling.

I've only been on one - Avalanche at PKD - I've always thought that coaster was great! (although, it hasn't been open this year from what I've heard).

This is a poll, so I'm moving it to polls. Um, yeah.

I still contend that regardless of the type of coaster you're talking about (wooden, steel, suspended, inverted, hyper, giga, mouse...) the manufacturer doesn't matter, the ride does. But as I've worked a bobsled coaster and Disaster Transport is also the only one I've been on, by default my vote would have to fall for Intamin.

I'd have to say, the only Mack Bobsled I've been on (and the only one in the U.S. that I'm aware of -- Avalanche @ PKD) beats all of the Intamin bobsleds I've been on hands-down. From the way the cars are designed to the over-all feel of the ride.

The Bobsled ride at Opryland was pretty good. I think it was called the Screamin' Deamon or something like that. I thought it was better than Avalanche/Disaster.

Well, disaster transport is the only one I have ever been on so I would have to say that. What other ones are there?
Originally posted by cp_kw_pki_and_woa_fan What other ones are there?
There are only a few in the U.S. that I know of: Alpine Bobsled -- at Great Escape (believe this is an Intamin design. Not positive.) Avalanche -- at Paramount's Kings Dominion (built by Mack) Disaster Transport -- at Cedar Point (built by Intamin) La Vibora -- at Six Flags over Texas (built by Intamin) Elsewhere in the world, there's: Avalanche -- at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, England (built by Mack) Bobbaan -- at Efteling, Netherlands (built by Intamin) Munich Autobahn -- in Kobe, Japan (built by Mack) Schweizer Bobbahn -- at Europa Park, Germany (built by Mack) Schweizer Bobbahn -- at Heide Park, Germany (built by Mack) Trace Du Hourra -- at Parc Astérix, France (built by Mack) Mack's version is known by its long train of cars (usually from 5 to 7 cars in a train), 2 people in each car, with the seats really low / close to the track. See http://rcdb.com/full/paramounts-kings-dominion/avalanche3.jpg Intamin's version usually has individual cars seating 3 or 4 people in single file that look somewhat like bobsleds. The cars ride much higher up than Mack's version (making it feel like it's going to topple over in the turns sometimes.) See http://rcdb.com/full/efteling/bobbaan8.jpg Note: The cars on Disaster Transport are a bit different, seating 2-across in 5 rows. Hope this helps.

I've only been on two: Disaster Transport, and the now defunct Rolling Thunder at SFGAM. Both were pretty good rides, and it seems like a single car would have a greater effect than a long train like Mack's.

i've ridden Trace Du Hourra, and it gives a very bumby ride. I was at the back, but it was far from smooth, quite unconfortable.

I'm going to have to say intamin because the only bobsled I've ridden was built by them. That ride would be Disaster Transport.
