Gamecube or PS2

Ok, I have the choice of getting a gamecube or a PS2. I already have an xbox, but I need to know what other system to get. Please give me your opinion and state why you think I should get one system over another. Also, please no flaming of each system since I know this could turn into a possible flame war (although I don't know why lol) Thanks.

I have both and I'll say PS2. It has more and better games and a DVD player. It's also more powerful I believe. Gamecube is a great system though with great games coming out now. Maybe in 6 months it will have even better games than PS2, but not yet.

ya but not by much it doesn't matter what runs faster when they are that close to each other all that matters is the quality of the games.

Gamecube is like Cedar Point to me. Quality over Quanity.
Gamecube as the best graphics and gameplay
PS2 has a better variety

So ill have to go with Gamecube because once Gamecube comes out with more games, then it will be unstoppable.

Thats because the backgrounds on the GCN Resident Evil actually are FMVs (same as the playstation movies).

I'll agree that Gamecube has quality over quantity, but I also prefer a variety, which is why I prefer PS2.

I'd go with the Gamecube. It has really good graphics, and some great games as well.

PS2. One reason: GC doesn't have GTA3 or MOH: Frontline. Case closed.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I went ahead and got the GC. The bad thing was it bought it 4 days before it went down to 150, but EB gave me the extra $50 back which I was kind of surprised they'd do.

well...uhhh...that sucks

the GameCube has about as many good games as my homemade handheld thing that doesn't work.

zero

I used to love Nintendo but the 64 sucked and the GameCube has sucked so far, very, very few good games, tons of lackluster ports(people always complain about the XBox with that but the GCN has a higher port rate) and...stuff...

E3 just proved that to me, the only things that were shown were games we've known about for a year, I didn't want Zelda or Metroid a year ago, I still don't want them now.

personal choice sure...but the PS2 kicks the Cube's ass in every category.

PS2

PS2. PS2 has more teen oriented games not the kiddie games of GC. Max Payne and GTA3 are very good games for the serial killer at heart. Gran Turismo 3: A-spec is without a doubt the best racing game that man has had the privilege to lay his hands on. GC does have an awesome Star Wars game but not enough "quality" games. What was Nintendo thinking when they came out with this sucker. The PS2 was out for more than a year before it yet they only put a processor that is a couple more mghz faster. Yeah they really tried hard to beat the PS2 didn't they. The X-BOX kicks its @$$. Both the PS2 and GC. But The PS2 was a year old. I think Nintendo should of done better. And whoever came up with that Pickmin game needs to be shot.

Ok, lets get this straight. A couple Mhz faster would be 2 Mhz faster. To get about how much faster the rating on the processor of the GC is to the PS2, take that 2 I already gave you, and add 2 zeros to it. Yup, 200 Mhz faster on the label. But it is still probably faster than that. Furthermore, most PS2 games take FOREVER to load. Yes, I have one, and it can take 2 minutes to load one level. On the GC, it usually takes about 2 seconds. I'd say more, but I gotta go do somethin with my girlfriend.

Most PS2 games I've played only take about 10 to 15 seconds to load. It just depends on the game.

Does anyone else think that console wars are even more pointless than "best park" wars?

Here is my ranking of the 3 systems...
1. PS2
2. GCN
3. XBOX

Playstation 2 is just awesome and the controls rules over the rest. THe games are awesome and I just like it better. THere is my two cents.

Apparently you havent heard of a game called 'resident evil. Any parent who lets their "kiddie" play that game should be shot.

Yes that game is far from kiddie and is completely awesome. It's by far the best horror game I've ever played and the graphics are awesome. I don't really think you can say GC is kiddie just b/c it has "some" family oriented games (btw, a game doesn't have to have people's heads flying off or blood squirting out of them when you hit somebody to make it a good game) I'm very satisfied w/ my gamecube and it's games.

"Some" family oriented games? Try mostly family oriented games. (If not for Resident Evil I would say ALL.) Anywho, PS2 has way better games falt out.

Without a doubt the PS2, the ONLY good game out for Gamecube currently is Resident Evil, yes it is fun, scary and good graphics, but PS2 is whippin out, Hmmm......lets see, Medal Of Honor, Timesplitters2, Lethal Skies, SOCOM, DDR, and a tn of others, PS2 will live on forever.....

PS2 all the way. What's better than a DVD, video game, and CD player all in one with great graphics?? And PS2 also has the best game ever created, Grand Theft Auto III.

I've got to say PS2 because it has got really good game and the graphics are great. Also game cube has too many little kid games and they don't use the full power of the system and if they do then thats another reason for me to like PS2.

Sicenwhen was DDR a non-family oriented game? Come on now. And MOH and Timsplitters are coming to Gamecube. Furthermore, Timesplitters 2 is supposed to be even better on GC than PS2. Also, how can all the games be considered family oriented? Everybody likes sports games. You can call that "everybody oriented." James Bond is on it, and Rouge Leader is also a fun game that everybody likes. SSB is another game that is rated highly by everyone. If you must have a gory game to be satisfied, which is real stupid IMO, then get Eternal Darkness, Die Hard:Vendetta, Turok:Evolution, Mortal Kombat, and a whole bunch of other games to satisfy all you people who dont like a game unless there is meat flying through the air. I dont think half of you know what you are talking about. Name 5 "kiddie" games for Gamecube, and I'll tell, based on experience, if they are really that kiddie. And no, Im not 9 years old. Im as old as most of you people that think the only good game is a game with blood on all of the walls.

I think GameCube is a good system and I've always liked Nintendo. But its obvious that their main goal audience is 9 and 10 year olds. They have a few violent games, but they're only there to satisfy the older players and "balance" their family image. PS2 is obviously mostly geared at teens.

Well, if you want some more "mature" titles, games with guns, swears, etc...you know like GTA3 (+ more for GTA3 lol)...go with PS2.

If you want to play those "happy" games like Zelda and Mario and Smashbrothers then go with Gamecube.

I've got XBOX myself.

name all the RPGs on the GameCube...

as a hardcore gamer, I've been playing games pretty much my entire life, I used to be a Nintendo Fanboy...then the N64 came along...Nintendo has been pathetic since then.

My stance on the GameCube is....as much as I want to love the thing...I just can't since there isn't ONE single game that looks good to me(I HATE survival horror games, so RE is at a loss to me).

The PS2 whoops it in everything except graphics, and if your going to be a graphics ***** then you should be getting a XBox, not a Cube.

My rankings:
1. PS2
2. XBox
3. Cube

And don't pull **** about me being a "sony fanboy", I love good games, the XBox at LEAST has Halo, the Cube doesn't have anything. If I had to chose my favorite game company....I'd chose Sega, to me the Dreamcast was the best system...ever.
