Talking Do you like NASCAR?

Hey! I was just wondering who here enjoys watching NASCAR? If you do like NASCAR who is your favorite driver?

My favorite driver is Jimmie Johnson.

I am actually trying to get into Nascar this year. I actually watched the Daytona 500 and I really wish I could have seen the past week's race at Talladega. I really don't have any favorite driver...usually the guy in the Winston points lead or is doing good at the moment.

My favorite driver is the old man, Dale Jarrett.

I also like Kyle Petty and Rusty Wallace.

I do not like Junior or Jeff Gordon, simply because everyone likes one or the other.

No, I don't. I get bored watching it after like one lap. I seriously cannot imagine people watching cars go in circles for 300 or so laps. Bleh.........

Personally I can't stand it. It is probably the worst thing on televison. Has anyone ever seen the Malcolm in the Middle episode when they go to the race track, it's hilarious.

I was just thinking about posting a topic about this...

I love NASCAR. I'm not a die-hard, but I could give you the number of most drivers. My favorite is Jeff Gordon, followed by Jimmie Johnson. I don't like any of the old guys (Mark Martin, DJ) or Junior. I personally used to think that it was stupid, but my friend got me into it last year, and once you get to know the drivers, the skill, and the science involved, it is pretty cool. Not to mention crashes at Daytona and Talladega.

Miss when I used to volunteer at Sears Point a few times a year for the races there, and have loved racing since I was a kid. In the last 30 years I think I've missed seeing one or two races at Indy live- both Indy and NASCAR.

Favorite driver? Jeff Gordon, easy. But I also root for Mark Martin, Dale Jarrett, Michael Waltrip and Sterling Marlin.

Least favorite? Tony Stewart for that horrible temper that has already injured some, risked the lives of others and goes right along with that ego of his. Ugggg

I used to follow Stewart, but when he started showing his temper and generally being a jerk to everyone, I stopped.

I like moto Cross, mainly because its more action, and they are getting loads of air off the jumps. Super Cross too.

How could you watch cars drive around is circles.
In Australia we have the V8 supercars and they drive around on Race tracks. And the cars in my opinion are much better and more powerful than your dumb NASCARS

Yeah, it's pretty boring watching the cars go around the asphalt for hours on end.

The only racing I like to watch occasionally is off road rally racing. That stuff is exciting.

I think NASCAR is entertaining to watch live. On TV, no. I'm sure if I knew more about it and the drivers, I'd probably like it more. One thing is for sure though. This sport is definitely one of the most popular sports in the country.

I will admit, I like rally cross more exciting than NASCAR. Especially the European stuff. But you can hardly ever find it on TV.

Oh my god...I love all types of racing except Rally Cross. I mean, they race against the clock! Now, if you put about 30 cars at the same time down those narrow mountain roads, THEN we've got ourselves a sport!

I would pay to see that Slipknot. I will watch the last ten or fifteen laps of the bigger races, but other than that I don't really watch.

Yes, I'm gonna have to agree with General Public and say you are incredibly stupid. The V8 Touring Cars have V8's that are either turbo charged or superchared and are not as powerful as NASCAR's superchared bored out V8 stock cars. Sorry for the flame but I had to point out your total lack of knowlodge on anything to deal with racing. Nothing personal.

Anyways, I love NASCAR but I don't love it for the reason y'all hate it. The reason why people like NASCAR isn't to see cars going around in circles. It's to watch a competition. If it was to just watch cars go around in circles than it would be like watchin paint dry. We like seeing man and machine race at 190 mph inches away from each other. And BTW NASCAR races on 2 road coures, Watkin's Glen and Sears Point.

I like all racing except F1. My favorites are American Le Mans, NASCAR, NHRA, WRC, Superbike, NAS, and SX.

Oh and my favorite driver is Mark Martin.

Again I'm sorry for the flame, I just had to get it out.

You know... those whole going in circles thing: it's a trite and stupid argument. God, I've heard it so much before... it's all the non-NASCAR people can come up with, I guess. But, record crowds tune into the Olympics, featuring runners and skaters going around in circles. I'm assuming those that don't like to watch cars go around in circles don't like to watch "dignified" sports like track and field or speed skating.

If you don't like NASCAR.... so what. Just stop using the whole "going around in circles" bit.

At least these guys EARN their money. You can EARN 25 mil by stting on the bench on Basketball, baseball or football.

Other sports where money is EARNED by the PERFORMANCE week in AND week out....BOWLING, GOLF, TENNIS

Sorry General Public, but "going around in circles" is exactly what they do for hours on end. If I ever watch, it would only be for a few minutes while I hope I get to see a good wreck. I do occationally like to watch LeMans, especially the 24 Hours of LeMans. I also enjoy MotoCross/SuperCross, off road racing, etc. I think the craziest thing I have ever seen was when people were Rally racing up Pike's Peak and fish tailing around curves where if they went off there was a very steep hill if not an immediate drop.

BTW, my theory is that they do the road races to make sure the cars can still turn right....

Umm, I think that you already made that point. No real reason to repeat it.

But yeah, those that say it's only going around in circles usually don't have any clue about what's happening during the race itself, or the skill and action that is there throughout. They might tune in for the wrecks, which puts them on the same level as those that watch hockey for the fights and don't have a clue about how the game is really played.

In a simple answer, NO. I find racing to be the most borring sport/hobby (whatever you want to call it) to watch. The only time it's decent is when someone crashes, and even then it's not good because there is a good chance the person could have been seriously injured. So no, I don't like Nascar.

GP, NASCAR is frickin boring. They DRIVE in circles, now whats the difference between that and Speed Skate racing? In spped skate racing, the use THEIR BODIES to create the speed, in Nascar, its just a phatty motor that does literally all the work for you. As I see it, if you consider a NASCAR driver a athlete then like 80% of America is a athlete or some other percent. Because most Americans DRIVE a CAR on streets and roads! It almost the same thing, most cars have less power.

Now I heard someone mentioning Rally Cross, I really like it too, anything off road to me is pretty cool. My favorite type of racing hands down in Mountain Bike racing. I race myself, but watching the pros is incredible. Th e downhill evens as well as Mountain Cross is amazing. THe downhill is a race against the clock, while Mountain Cross is kind of like Boarder Cross (4 people racing eachother) So im sure you guys would enjoy that. And of course, dual slalom. There are slalom gates with jumps and berms that the racers must go through, they are incredible! I enjoy that 92314721908472319847129847312094721389047312472710942174982734014087320147237409% better than Nascar, Nascar is just plain boring..... THEY DRIVE IN CIRCLES....

You obviously don't know your butt from NASCAR.

Skaters and runners still go around in circles like race drivers (and not just NASCAR drivers, either--funny how IRL and motorcycle racing never gets that sort of criticism). So why don't you just stick with "I don't like NASCAR," and keep it simple and on your level, mmk?

Okay your the boss, I hate Nascar, OOOPS! I don't like Nascar. It's cars going in circles.

Anyways, about skaters. They use their human bodies to go fast, Nascar drivers use a Engine, which includes only a slight amount of effort from the drive to make them accelerate. I'll just leave it at that.

Because you've driven around in heavy traffic means you can drive as well as they can at 180+ mph. Right. I wouldn't call the drivers atheletes, but they're far more talented than you. And you obviously haven't heard of a road course.

BTW I take it you think Indy Car racing et al is just as sophomoric and stupid too, right?
