What woodie do you think is in need of the most track work.

Which wood coaster do you think would benefit the most from some major retracking?

I think it is Beast, itd be so great if they could overhaul the ride so the trims would no longer be necessary. It would once again give those insanely fast and relentless rides, and it's be top 5 in the golden tickets for sure.

This is a cleverly disguised "woodies that are so rough I have to cry about it" thread.

Hercules. It will be re-tracked as a floorless.

I say Mean Streak, so everyone can stop saying it's rough. A Wooden Coaster is designed to give a old fashoned rough thrill. Like I allways say, every coaster isn't a B&M.

I'd say Mean Streak. That way, maybe they can let the thing go down the first hill freely for a change, and get rid of the trim brakes.

I think the GASM at SFOG could use some track work.

Mean Streak has the potential to be a great coaster if they retracked it and removed the trim brakes.

Mean Streak and the Beast. The Beast would easily be the best wood caoster in the world if they took off the trims.

INCORRECT.

Also don't quote me on this, but I remember Gemini as only having block brakes and no trims.

My votes for retracking:

Rolling Thunder (SFGrAdv)
Psyclone (SFMM)
Predator (SFDL)

SOB (PKI) - if retracking could help this one

Um, no that's just a flat section of track, I've ridden Raptor and I'm pretty sure that it has no trims other than the ones on the mid-course block.

And what's all this talk about retracking steel coasters? They don't do that unless the actual track is damaged from a falling tree or something that may warp the track's formation - which makes it unable to properly operate safely.

I don't think so. That ride has been butchered enough already. I don't think there is any other wooden coaster of that size that has gone through so many reprofiling, retracking, and drastic changes as Colossus. From building a block area over the famous -2 G 'double-hump' to replacing the actual track with I-beam rails, this ride is long gone from what it used to be. At its current stage - anymore changes, you'll hardly feel the differences anyway.

Awful. Just awful. I-beams for track!!! I really have to question some of SFMM's moves. I mean, Revolution-OTSR's, major trims, and track reprofiling(i think). Colossus-MAJOR track reprofiling, trims, I-beams for track etc.

Cyclone @ SFNE, but then again it would probably ruin the ride.

Revolution's harnesses are there for insurance reasons. And because the ride's support structure design is very light-duty in contrast to the massive trains, trims are used to keep structural stress on the low end - 'cause Revolution would tear through the circuit without trims.

No, that's just flat track d00d. The trims are up on the block brake sections. I never remember seeing any trims on them in that section, nor slowing down. So, stop saying we're wrong.

Let's go to the expert here: me. Remember, I rode Raptor 246 times in 2003.

Raptor does not have any brakes anywhere along the track except for the MCBR. And those are hardly on at all!

The little thing you may be thinking of is a proxy sensor that changes the setting on the lights on the cobra roll. At night once the train hits that proxy, the cobra roll lights dim and strobe the entire time the train's in the cobra roll. When it doesn't work, you get blinded exiting the cobra roll. I've had it not work with me a few times.

Gemini has a set of trim brakes just before the helix finale. Sometimes they're on, sometimes they're not. I'd rather have them on since the helix can be a little brutal. It has a bad transition when it goes from ground level to brake run level.
