| Haunting Songs.
What do you think is the most haunting song you've heard. For me its: Johnny Cash: Hurt Nirvana: Where did you sleep last night? Last edited by Jester1; 09-27-2003 at 03:50 AM. |

The theme from "Halloween" is the creepiest tune I've heard. For a song you hear on the radio, I would say "Close Your Eyes Forever" by Ozzy and Lita Ford.

Marilyn Mansons version of Sweet Dreams.

Easily "The Ancient Queen" by Emperor. Which is really odd that a song can be haunting and have a crunchy, catchy riff... but, it does very well. |

I like the "Liquid Waltz" from the movie Donnie Darko. For those who have seen it, it's the song when he can see his path and follows it to the gun, and it's also in the bike scene near the end.

Type O Negative : Kill all the white people. It's just creepy seeing 4 pale white guys from brooklyn on stage, singing the words "kill all the white people" lol |

I dunno if these posts are too close together, but I'd like to add another- "Moon Over Kera-Shehr", also by Emperor. |

This is primarily a poll, so I'll shunt it over in that direction... "Stay" by Shakespeare's Sister. It's haunting and very sinister, but plaintive at the same time. A classical piece not to miss is Bach's "Tocatta in Fugue" -- your very classic "graveyard" piece.
Originally posted by Jester1 For me its: Johnny Cash: Hurt
You should hear the Nine Inch Nails original version of Hurt, its a lot better and a lot more haunting than Johnny Cash's version, especially at the end.

I believe that was a remix in the movie Kraken of Mansons Sweet Dreams....so its more upbeat than the original......but to get the full haunting effect, you have got to see his video for it...it scares even me!

Almost all of Pink Floyd's music is pretty hauting. The Wall DVD really shows it too.

I agree completely, but I think more of a haunted house or mansion when I hear that song. The organ on that is just plain freaky wherever you hear it. That's a song that should be a staple at any Haunted House.

Probably the best halloween type song is Michael Jackson's "Thriller." The guy at the end has a really creepy voice.

The two versions of Hurt are both equally chilling for different reasons.

Here are couple haunting songs: "A Whiter Shade of Pale" by Procol Harum (Matthew Fisher's Hammond Organ is majestic and haunting in its own way) "Guilty Pleasures" by James Belton (a dark Depeche Mode-like track about surviving AIDS) And I agree, 9 mins of the Tocatta & Fugue in D Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach is quite exhilarating. |

The theme from Unsolved Mysteries is pretty freaky, and any sound that comes out of the mouth of the lead singer from Hot Hot Heat.

Oh god, Rocky Horror Picture Show...I really hated that movie, but a lot of my friends love that movie for some reason. I guess it's not a bad song, but I now always think of Tim Curry in Lingerie when I hear it...::shudders::

Ever seen the Drew Carey show eppisode with him and a bunch of people dancing around singing to that song, and there also was Mimi and a bunch of drag queens singing some other song. If I remember correctly, it was "Shake your grove thing". That was hillarious.

Most haunting song would be either Eminem's "Kim" from the Marshall Mathers LP or any Michael Bolton song.
