Best air time caoster?

Other than a monstrous drop, nothing thrills me more on a coaster than hella air time!

Being a Indianapolis boy, my park experience has been pretty well limited to PKI, CP, and SFKK.

Of those parks, I have to give Magnum XL at CP my vote for best air time. at the top of the third hill, I hit the lap bar, and didn't come off of it until the bottom. I thought it was never going to end, and I hoped I was right!!! BIG time kudos to Arrow for that design!!

Since I'm new to the board, I'll post my other favorites:

Best Steel- Millenium Force (best ridden after dark)

Best Wood- Still the Beast, baby

Best Inverted- Raptor

Best Standup- Chang

Live for the ticka-ticka!!

What??? There are like 900 coasters that have better airtime than MF. My vote goes to Apollo's Chariot for steel. I haven't ridden enough wood coasters to make a good decision. Right now, I'd say Timber Terror.

Magnum for steel and Gwazi for wooden. Gwazi's "fly-by" over the entrance to the station is pretty good for air time. Magnum was pretty good for air with the bunny hops.

You live Indy but yet you havn't been to Indiana Beach? Cause my choice is definatly the Cornball Express. Between the first and back seat, there is a bunch of airtime on every hill, plus the mega air bunnyhills at the end.

I really haven't been on a steel coaster known for major airtime, but the Georgia Cyclone's airtime is incredible.

Back seat kraxle. Back seat.

Most intense instance: Millennium Force
Greatest number: Magnum XL-200

Magnum's air is still quality airtime all the way though, even though there's a lot of it.

For me, it's a tie between Nitro and S:ROS(SFNE). Superman has the press you against the lapbar airtime, and Nitro has the cool astronaut floating air. I like em both in their own way.

I find Blue Streak at CP with great moments of air. Plus it isn't as "painful" as Magnum's.

the best rollercoaster (wood or steel) for airtime is without a doubt...the big dipper @ sfwoa. that thing has EJECTOR air at every single hill. its crazy. for steel...i dont know, i guess nitro but thats more floater air and the coaster is mainly aimed at speed.

Cyclops or Viper(SFGAm) for wood.
The old Raging Bull or Magnum for steel.

Most of the coasters mentioned (that i know a bit about) have multi-locking position lapbars. HOW do you get airtime when the restraint 'should' be close to your body? And another thing, some of these coasters have seatbelts...HOW DO YOU GET AIR TIME????

Anyways, the most airtime on a coaster i've riden is "Coaster" at Playland in Vancouver. The lapbar has only one locking position about 7-8 inchs above your lap. You definetly get air on that.

MF has no air, what are you smokin? Magnum has air, but you wouldn't know because you've never been on it (yet choose to bash it). Gemini has instances of airtime too. Racer has some nice air too.

I guess you have to pull an "Alvey" in that case.

SFGadvKing, I totally agree with you about The Big Dipper. In fact I don't ride in the back seat very often anymore, for some reason, everytime I do, that damn coaster seems to be able to unhook a certain under garment, don't ask me how, I have know idea!!

But, my girls will verify that, because they've had to help hook it up again. I know it has something to do with the airtime, but I haven't figured out how it does it.

Natelox, The Big Dipper is an older coaster and the lapbar does not come down tight at all, also, the seatbelts are somewhat loose, so, you do get "alot" of airtime.

As far as steel, I say Apollos Chariot.
Big Dipper has a mind of it's own. If I was a coaster, I would do the same thing. (ok, that was close to the dumbest thing I've said on these threads)

Good answer with Apollos Chariot.

Hey did anyone see the new afro smiley? Or am I just slow?

hmmm
wood- all about Timberwolf, hell yea! Most people haven't ever experienced this coaster, it has mad air all over. Especially the hill after the turnaround, it's insane.
steel- uh....shockwave at SFOT, has an awesome ejector hill.

Steel - Magnum XL-200. This might change at BGW next year though.
Overall - Georgia Cyclone. Serious ejector air on at least 5 hills.

On wooden coasters I loosen the seatbelt a bit and have the bar about one click from my body. That usually gives enough room for enjoyable airtime.

Wood: Phoenix (Knoebels) or Comet (Great Escape)

Steel: S:ROS (SFNE) Phantom's Revenge (Kennywood)

The woods I feel strongly about - steel I can be disuaded.
