Favorite Drop Tower???

I searched, and to my surprise this has not been discussed!

So, what's your favorite drop tower(s)?

Mine would be:

1) Drop Zone - PKI
2) Drop Zone - PKD
3) Dr. Doom's Fear Fall - IOA
4) Acrophobia - SFOG (I like the height, hate the seats)
5) Drop Zone - PC

Haven't been on Power Tower yet, because of the lines everytime I've been at CP (only twice).

I've never been on any of these. The best I've been on is Dominator at DP.

I will probably never ride one of these again. I fell out of it the last time.

I vote Acrophobia for scariest, but the S&S launch towers and 1st gen. freefalls are fun to ride.

Well, we were at the top. And the ride-op dropped his soda, he rushed around looking for napkins and hit the e-stop. Well.. This triggered the hydraulics in the seat to open, and weeeeeeeeeeeeee I fell straight down about 100 feet and hit the ground hard. I skinned my knee, but DP paid for the socks that were stained by the blood.

I'll never ride that thing again.

Alright, seriously, that's just dumb. Those things have so many redundant safety systems that even if the ludicrious story you told were even patially true, you'd still have had to unbuckle your seat belt and over come the hydraulic force which isn't released during an e-stop unless the ride engages the sensors at the base of the tower. That and a 100 foot fall which gave you bloody socks? Come on now. We're not all 12.

He was joking... calm down... lol. But thanks for letting us know how drop towers work... interesting.... As for the bloody socks, I think theme parks would replace them if you got hurt.. I mean, they're just socks...

I'm going to go with Acrophobia, but it usually changes after each time I go on another one.

Well unfortunatley, it's only like 5 seconds, before they release you.

The new ones are so quiet too (PKD's Drop Zone) for instance, you don't have a clue when it's going to drop. Where as, PC's Drop Zone, it's so loud the click let's you know that a second later you're gone!

I like the surprise of it, even though it's still a little unnerving of a ride.

I have only been on Dr. Doom's FearFall and Acrophobia, and Acrophobia was the better by far.

Acrophobia is the best drop ride...Technically Dr Doom isn't a drop tower so why is it on the list? It's the best space shot...

what do you mean by a shuttle?

the most thrilling is no doubt the big shot on the stratosphere but the overall best is tower of terror.

Well one side of Power Tower goes up as well, so should I remove that one too

"Drop Tower" to me encompasses any tower that shoots you up, or takes you to the top, then drops you.

Dominator at DP seems to hold you up for about 15-20 seconds, unless my perception was way off like Leeloo said.

Seriously though, I won't ride one again. Right after my trip to DP, my Aunt told me about her trip to HP where power went out in the park and people were stuck on rides until they could be pulled off. Since then, I keep thinking about what would happen if the power turned off while I was up top. I think I'd have a heart attack (Yes, I know it can probably be manually lowered, but we're talking minutes and minutes and minutes until that can happen.)

Yeah I can identify with ya. Of all the flat rides/thrill rides, I ride them the least. I usually will only hit it once on a trip to a park. I haven't even ridden Power Tower yet, I always hit the coasters first, then if I have time I hit the drop towers.

I only rode PKD's new one once, even though I liked it a lot.

The Drop Zones are horrible. I don't know why people think they are more intense than the S&S towers. The drops have air, but have no jolt/force to them. I vote for Power Tower (CP). Now that's a drop tower.

No, but having been on 4 S&Ss myself, I can say that 'non-frefall' drop towers are boring as ****....

What RCT loser said. S&S had a good idea with them, but they're boring now, especially when they catch you halfway down the tower on turbo drop. I like the 2nd gen. Intamins and their Roto-drops. You freefall almost the whole way down, and the stop is freakishly smooth. The wonder of magnets..

With out a doubt, Tower Of Terror at Disney Studios. That ride is untouchable. From the que to the boiler room, up the elavator shaft to the drop shaft, the themeing never lets up. Not to mention that the new drop program drops you atleast 10times or more, and it's 'random', so you never know what to expect. Also, it was recently renovated to have seatbealts, so there is nothing to hold on to. I don't see how it can get any better than that.
