Where to?

Next summer, I will continue my tradition and go to a couple of amusement parks out of the state, as I have the last 3 years. Ive been to the major desinations-Cleveland area parks(CP, SFWoA); LA area (knotts, SFMM); and Maryland/Virginia. This summer, i cant decide. I have narrowed it down to either PKI/CP or 3 of the Pennsylvania parks(HP/DP/KW) My friend that is going with me thinks we should go to CP, as he hasnt been there. And I really enjoyed CP when I went there, and i have yet to been on their 2 launched coasters. So it's definately a good possibility to go there. But Penn definately has good coasters, and i havent been there yet. So now, you get to choose for me. And no reasons like "its my homepark." let's use our heads. Thank you

Tough choice. You'll get to ride TTD and WT if you go to CP, but then HP is getting their new intamin rocket coaster too. To me though, I'd still pick CP, even if you have been there before. Everytime I go to CP, it blows all other parks away. Just the atmosphere and the rides are awesome, plus, you'll get to ride TTD! I'm going to say CP, but either way, you'll be hitting good parks.

Go for Cedar Point. The Pennsylvania parks sound fun and awesome, but if I were you, Id totally go for Cedar Point. Everyone is saying "Yeah man, TTD is the best!" But honestly, you will enjoy so many other coasters there, especially Raptor. Thats one reason why I return to Cedar Point, to ride Raptor. But it's such a good park. The crowds however, are kind of annoying, but you'll live.

dont go to the parks in penn. they are nothing special. out of dorneypark and hersheypark (never been to kennywood), the only really good coasters are talon and lightning racer (and probably the new launched one). and as i hear raptor is better than talon and the PKI woodies are probably better than lightning racer. i'd say go to cedar point.

I vote for the Penn. parks.

First off you have Knoebels. Pheonix and Twister, plus the best flying skooters and the best haunted house around... need I say more?

Then you have Kennywood, with Thunderbolt, Jackrabbit, Exterminator, and PR.

Hersheypark has Wildcat, Great Bear, SDL, and LR.

DP has Thunderhawk and Talon.

Lets compare that with CP-
You'd have MF, TTD, Raptor, Gemini, and Magnum... but those are the only 5 there that are supposed to be anything special.

So, it's CP-5, Penn. Parks-11. Not counting Exterminator, the Flying skooters, and Knoebel's Haunted House on Penn.'s side.

It's a tough choice, but I'd hit CP and PKI. CP's got Millennium Force (for me, that alone would be enough), Raptor, and of course, TTD, but I haven't ridden that yet. Plus, in PKI there's The Beast, still one of the best woodies ever built. Pennsylvannia does have Talon and Hersheypark's Lightning Racer and Wildcat, but Ohio is the coaster capital of the region.

I've only been to two of the parks you mentioned - HP and DP.

I'd say if you choose PA, replace DP with Knoebels. DP is utterly unenjoyable. See my sig for info.

I'd got to Pennsylvania, considering you've not been there before. Cedar Point is a shade pricey if you've been on all but two of the coasters, but it depends on how strongly your companion feels about visiting. Kings Island is superb -- a very laid back atmosphere that I enjoyed very much, so if you've not been there either it could well make the Ohio trip more attractive.

Pennsylvania, but add Knoebel's to that list of MUST Do's.

I would go with CP and PKI. They are my two favorite parks.

Go to the PA parks. I don't hear much about them on this site.

I would go to Cedar Point because it has two of the best coasters in the world TTD and MF.

This sounds like a tough decision so let me add this up.

PENN
Rocket, LR, Wildcat, Talon, Thunderhawk, Laser, SF, Phantom's Revenge, Thunderbolt, Twister, Phoenix, etc.

OHIO
TTD, MF, WT, Raptor, Magnum, Mantis, Vortex, Beast, SoB, FoF, maybe something new for PKI.

Looks pretty Pennish to me.

My friend is basically a hitch-hiker, so he gets only a small say in it.

CP does have really great rides. Riding all of them again would be great, of course. And getting to ride WT and TTD would also be really cool, as well as the Beast and the things at PKI. But Penn has a ton of awesome wooden coasters, a super soaker (which i think looks like tons of fun) a rocket coaster, an invert, some loopers, and a hyper. Yes, it is a very tough choice. I guess i'll check this poll in 2 weeks and whatever is winning then will decide it for me.

Cedar Point and PKI are thrill empires, but I don't think they can have the same effect that Knoebels and Kennywood would have. I've visited Knoebels and in those 6 short hours i was there the park instantly jumped into my list of absolute favorites. Sure, Millennium Force is a great, controlled thrill, but it's unmatched in comparison to the Flyer. A trip to Pennsylvania would be much more worth it, you'll actually get to feel airtime. I'd mention Magnum, but thpse bars pretty much staple you down. The memories from CP and PKI will last a summer, but the memories from Pennsylvania will persist much longer.
