November TNPP Voting

Let the voting begin. Two parks have been entered in this month's Greco-Roman themed contest:
Pillars Apart by bk2004
Roman Ruins by WildeFyre

In order to give people a full week to choose, voting will close December 2nd. After a winner has been declared for this month, the staff will vote on the Winner's Circle. The winner of that contest (and a $50 Amazon.com gift certificate) will be announced around December 10.

On a final note, the TNPP staff will be meeting on the 27th to discuss, among other things, the role of RCT3 in the contest and the themes for the next three months. The results of that meeting will be posted here.

Now, let's see those votes!

ok, I see that some of you are having problems downloading my park. The 'export cutom scenery" box is checked. I realized that after CoasterBoss's comment...which was after about 2-3 people had downloaded the park. However, after seeing his comment, I went back into the game and resaved the file with the box checked and re-uploaded it. So, there should be no problem now. If you were one of the first to download, try re-downloading it. I just downloaded it myself to a different directory, away from RCT2 folder, and opened it. When I opened it, the first thing I checked was the options, and low and behold the box was checked, so there should be no problem with my file.

Edit...bk2004: How about telling me the error you're getting so I can try to fix it instead of just saying it doesnt work and possibly scaring others away from downloading it? You could private message me these problems you know, it'd save me from embarassment in this competition...

My vote goes to bk's park. I don't feel that it is as strong as your August submission, but it still is a pretty good park. The coasters were a definite improvement though, and I still think that you can really create an absolutely amazing park if you can just get everything together.

WildeFyre, your park was a bit empty and just had too many trees. The rides weren't too exciting either. The buildings you had were pretty good though, so keep trying with future contests.

My thoughts on the two parks

Pillars Apart: Immediately this struck me as not being the traditional Roman style park. It somehow had a very different and unique feel, as opposed to what I'm used to. The architecture was very good, even more impressive given the small number of custom scenery used and the relative simplicity of the buildings. This park also managed to pack a large number of coasters into a small area without any of them standing out and dominating the view, which is very difficult to do. The tree selection was also good considering the theme. My one real gripe was the support structure of Swindle. I didn't think the custom ones were needed at all, and it didn't look too good with so many thick gray supports.

Roman Ruins: With the thick forest and all the columns scattered around, this park had a slightly abandoned feel. I liked how you gave considerable prominance to the dueling waterslides, which is very rare nowadays. Gladiator also had a great layout. Your architecture was good, also relatively simple. I was drawn to the roofs of the buildings, they looked very good, being all different colors. They had a jagged feel, which was pretty interesting. One thing I didn't like in this park were the trees, I would have preferred a greater variety.

Very difficult decision, but I'm going to give my vote to Pillars Apart.

And we have a winner. This was a very close race, and to anyone who thinks that their vote doesn't count, take a look at the results and see otherwise.

First: Pillars Apart by bk200 (9 votes)
Second: Roman Ruins by WildeFyre (8 votes)

Pillars Apart will now advance to the first even Winner's Circle, where it will join the October and September winners in run-off competition to be decided by the staff. Congrats to both of you for entering great parks, and thanks to everyone who voted. Results of the Winner's Circle should be announced December 10.
