Winner's Circle Announcement and Discussion

As the name implies, this is the thread specifically to discuss the Winner's Circle competitions. Announcements concerning the Winner's Circle will also be made in here. With that out of the way...

It is my pleasure to announce to you the results of the Round One voting.

In third place, Pillars Apart by bk2004 (Applause)

In second place, Dreamwood by bk2004 (Rousing applause)

In first place, Haunted Wasteland by SFGadvKing (Standing ovation)

I want to let you know that it was a pretty close vote. SFGadvKing will be getting $50 to Amazon.com. You may now proceed to shower the staff members with compliments or hurl curses at them, depending on how you feel about the results.

Congradulations to SFGadvKing!

I hope you enjoy the prize and good luck to your future contest entries!

I also want to say awesome work to everyone who was involved with the whole TNPP. I know it's hard work to put something together like this. And a special thanks to Aaron.

If you tell other members how awesome the TNPP really is, you're the real winner.

But Sfgadvking walks away with 50 bucks...

To everyone who submitted a park: A huge thanks! We are still ironing out some cracks in our new TNPP system, but we are trying to get some new members to get in on the contest. Thanks to ALL who participated, you're all winners in my book.

Dammit. If Spirits Mountain had been in a different round it would've gotten 2nd...

Oh well. Congradulations SFGadvking/Yeshli2nuts.

I'll back in a couple months to try for the $50 again, and next time I shall not fail .

Has it really only been three months since I've done this? Feels like a lot longer. At any rate, the voting has closed mere minutes ago, and it is my pleasure to announce to you all the winner of the Second Round.

In third place is Six Flags Over North Carolina by bk2004 (Bronze medal)

In second place is Tim Burton: A Tribute by SFGadvKing (Silver medal)

And in first place, the grand winner is Poles Apart by bk2004 (Gold medal)

A big thanks to the staffers who voted, the people who voted in the monthly contests and so helped these parks advance to the Winner's Circle, and of course, our two talented parkmakers featured in this round. bk2004 will now received $50 to Amazon.com. See you all in June!

Thanks to everyone who voted for my parks to get them into the winner's circle, and then to the staff members who voted for them again to get them where they are. I appreciate it greatly. Also, to everyone who runs the TNPP. I know it can be stressful at times, but you sure are enriching my Thrillnetwork experience!

Thanks again!

Ok Ride 6, do you have what it takes to win the next Winner's Circle.

you wanna know why im more as you say "bitter" losing this contest than many many other contests i have lost on other sites? its because i built this park solely for the contest. my two zelda parks and my brazilian jungle park all lost the spotlight contest at new element and the VP contest at rct2.com but i didnt care because i built those parks for my own fun and then sent them in to the contests to see if they would win. i made this park just for the money and honestly, i didnt have fun building it. and youre probably going to think im an ******* for saying this (if you dont think so already), but i think my park was much better than the other two.

sorry if this offends anyone, im not trying to complain, just stating my opinions/feelings on this.

Well, then your doing it all for the wrong reasons. Don't build the park just for the money. I think it's fun building the parks too, but to compete and hear a lot of feedback is always fun, and of course winning. Don't build the park and think, "Oh there is no way anyone is going to beat this!"

And yes, that was offensive.

SFgadvKing. Your parks are some of the best i have ever seen as well as Brooks' parks.

I really hope your kidding about doing the park just for the money and didn't enjoy makeing the park. If thats the case then thats why you didn't win or imo should not win.

I think that people who build these parks for the pure fun of the game deserve to win.

Good luck to you in future contest and hopefully you'll build parks for the right reasons. Just to have fun and enjoy what your doing. Not just cause you have to to make money.

If you didn't have fun making the park, then don't make parks at all...Because computer games are to have fun not to make money off of. Having a contest like this in TN is priviledge not a right and they don't have to give you prizes in the first place. It's a courtesy and it's supposed to be a fun contest...I think it's people like you that take the fun out of contests like these. Brooks won, deal with it...Maybe you should have enjoyed building the park and maybe you would have won. Like he said, your doing this for all the wrong reasons. And yet again, contests like these are a priviledge not a right...TN doesn't have to offer prizes in the first place.

The whole idea of RCT is to have fun. The whole idea of the TNPP is, and always has been, to provide something that the member find fun. King, I thought your park was exceptionally good, as did many other people. Look at the February results; out of nine votes, you got seven. Look at some of the glowing comments people gave:

If you didn't have fun doing it, I'm sorry, I really am. But instead of being bitter about it, why not congratulate Brooks? He congratulated you on your win back in December. So you didn't win $50 for the second time around. You made a great park, you placed second, isn't that enough? It shouldn't be about the money.

CP Maverick, there's no need to be insulting. Just because things haven't turned out your way doesn't mean you need to get nasty about it. I advice you to cease with the negative comments and maybe enter some more parks. Perhaps next time the results will be more in your favor.

Do you think I was dissapointed when I placed 3rd in the December 2002 TNPP? I thought my park, Rainier Falls, vastly outstripped both the winning park and two out of the other three. But nice as it would have been to win, complaining about it would have gotten me nowhere.

Lastly, we've all put a lot of work into this, and, speaking for TN's RCT community, I don't want to see the TNPP degraded by petty squabbles and bitterness. Everyone has an equal chance, and if you loose, hey, there's always next month.

The March submission deadline is in ten days. I hope I'll see plenty of parks that match the high caliber of all those I've seen in the past six months.

My comments only held that tone because my December park was me "having fun"... my February park was me "listening to the critics"... And as far as I'm concerned, my December park was much better. The problem lies in the fact my opinion of a "good park" rates completely different from everyone else here. I tried making my February park "look" more the way the judging body would want, but at the same time I cannot lose the way I build. I spent so much time planning that park that I feel like I wasted my time, half the comments said things like "I haven't heard of those movies"... Well the point was to bring in something from every movie he was in. If he was only in 5 or 6 movies (the # represented by SFGadvKing) I would have had much more time to "decorate" with cheesy walls and fences that hardly look "real"...

I am really curious why my parks don't do better. Is it because I don't use 15 textures per building? Or is it because every structure I build has a function, not just an appearance? And no offense to anyone else here, but I still haven't seen a coaster design even close to the ones I build. I think ride6 came closest with the wooden coaster in his SF park.

..

My word of advice to those who want to win TNPP... Forget planning and forget making a park operational. Make buildings with lots of wall textures and lots of custom scenery. That way you get people to be like "wow that's cool" whether it serves a purpose or not.

I plan my park. The layout and what's going to be in it and everything. I'll get ideas anywhere and anytime of the day and I write it down and try to see if it'll work the next time I build.

Mainly, all contests have parks like this. I guess it's just what people like. I could easily make a park you like, but I'd rather not because I wouldn't like it too much. I'm thinking about doing a smaller park and seeing how you like it. Anwyho......................

The thing with the buildings, there is always something in my buildings. Either a ride or shop/stall. Coaster station or que or something. But that's not the point. I do agree when some buildings (mine and others) can get out of hand with all the theming that's involved. Some look good like that and others don't. I'll work on that.

Oh, and for Poles Apart, you even said you like them. :-/

Please, your coasters aren't even that great...You made a big deal about how you had the same idea as me with the aircraft carrier on my PTADV thread and your doesn't look half as good as mine andI think you are a little arrogant with the comments you made. Your park wasn't as good as you make it out to be and SFGAdvKing deserved to win that one. Your just too full of yourself.

... You forgot to use your terrible towel.

Yes, I am arrogant. And I'm a better builder than most here. That's my opinion, I don't really care if you like it or not.

Man you guys are thowing such a major fit over nothing. I certainly do not understand it...

Look I'll play this contest again sometime, sadly I've been overwelmed by other projects, some of which are group competitions and with other people riding on it too I feel resposible not to let them down.

I'll probably enter in the July or Augest competitions since I know that I'm going to miss the May one thanks to the 7 group projects I have. Not that I'm complaining, I'm enjoying all of it. I'm just letting you guys know that I haven't been entering 2nd rate parks because I think that little of you. It's because I don't have the time that I'm not playing at the top of my game.

Cedar Point 6 & King, I'm sorry that you're so sour over an rct contest. It really isn't ment to cause pain. I'm not angry over entering and loosing out both times. It happens.

Is this all really worth it? There's no point in whining about the results of a vote. There's been many votes that I was vehemently against the outcome, but the people have spoken and there's really nothing I can do about it.
Same situation. What's done is done. Now, certainly, you have a right to be upset if things don't go your way, but this is too much.
If you feel that your parks are the best on TN, but they aren't getting the votes you expect, perhaps that's a sign that they may not be as good as you think. See what people suggest, and give their ideas a try. You may find it improves your parks; the ideas of people on this site helped improve mine.
And if you think that it's all about custom scenery and fanciful buildings, look at the September winner, Brooks' Dreamwood. You don't need to blow people away at first glance to win. There are many contests like that; the TNPP is one of the easiest to win, and we've certainly got one of the best prizes out there.
If you remain unconvinced, try winning the Spotlight at NE, for example. You'll have a tougher time there, I assure you.

I'm not complaining with my entry not receiving a vote. I know it was not too good because it was not completed. TNPP is being ripped apart by these quarels. They have to stop if TNPP is going to continue to work. I would hate to see it stop, I love seeing the parks that come out ouf it, and Icompletely agree with the winner's circle results.

So can I. Sunburst Shores and Wates of Civilization are both Runner ups of mine that were aimed at merily being runner ups, so I achieved what I set out to do.

The International Odyssey started out aiming for a spotlight but took so long that it missed the standard. If I had gotten it done 5 months earilier it might have been more likeily but even then I doupt it.

Spotlight requires a nearly complete understanding of the game and how you want to play it, then you have to take that knowledge and apply it to an extent that you probably don't know that you could until you did it.

This contest is far more entertaining. It's more fun because there isn't the pressure of having to build a large park and build it extremily well. You simply have to do your best and then you'll have a chance at winning. Sure you might not but that's life.

And yes, that was offensive.

the reason i didnt have fun building this park was completely my fault and i blame it no one else. i got caught in an awkward situation. i started building the park and i WAS having fun. about halfway through and with about 2 weeks left untill the deadline, i realised that i didnt have enough room for what i was planning for. it came down to days before the deadline and i still wasnt even close. by that time, instead of saying to myself "i'll go play rct because i enjoy playing it" i was saying "i gotta play rct so i can hurry and finish that danm park of mine" i dont like being in that situation, but i dont worry, i dont blame it on anyone but myself. i was stuck either hurrying to finish it, or taking my time, making it much better, but not finishing in time for the contest. i hope you guys can see where im comming from.

my previous post wasnt meant to be offensive, im guessing the part you took offensive was me thinking that my park was the best in the contest. we all have our own opinions and since i wasnt voting in the winners circle, it shouldnt even matter to you.

i forgot to say in my previous two posts but i do congradulate bk2004 on his win.
