| January TNPP Voting
It's voting time again. There are three Six Flags style parks for your consideration this month. Six Flags Little Lake by ride6. Six Flags Over Parking Lot by WildeFyre Six Flags Over North Carolina by bk2004. And I must remind everyone that if we see people voting without downloading the parks, we will disqualify those votes. That said, let the voting begin.

after looking at all three parks, my vote goes to SFONC. SFLL: i thought ride6 didnt put in enough for this tiny park. the stuff that was there wasnt even what your capable of, ride6. i would have expected more from you. SFONC: bk2004 is the best up and comming RCT2 parkmaker imo. this park is easily the best out of the three and it really shows it through the creative architecture and rides. i loved how you made the six flags logo next to the ferris wheel. i also liked two face. the only thing i think you should have changed is the size of the hyper coaster. it seems too big and overwhelming for the park. still, a very very good park. SFOPL: this park didnt have much to it. it was a nice idea to make everything over a parking lot but i dont think it turned out too well. it seemed like just huge rollercoasters plopped down with a building here and there.

I'll base my comments on SFGAdvKing's reviews in the above post 1. Six Flags Little Lake - Wonderful small park. I liked the simplicity, but it didn't "look" like Six Flags. The bulldozer was a nice little touch. But like SFGAdvKing said, we know you are much more capable ride6. 2. Six Flags over North Carolina - I'm going to have to disagree with everything SFGadvKing said with the exception of the architecture. bk is probably one of the "best up and comming BUILDING makers." If I was looking for the park with the best buildings, I would have voted for this one. However, the overuse of custom rides, and poor coaster designs really draw me away from this park. Especially the "hyper" because, well, I don't think it's good in the most generic sense of the word. Coasters simply don't look like that. And this Alicia Keys thing is getting out of hand, just go ask her out. 3. Six Flags over Parking Lot - SFGAdvKing, I think you hit the nail on the head with this one, with one exception: That was the point! In a complete satire of how SFI operates, this park is based on minimal theming, poor ride placement, dead end paths, and a basic lack of guest-friendly structures. I couldn't stop laughing when I looked through this park due to the completeness of the parody. My vote went here. |

5:40PM EST there are 7 votes and only 6 downloads on SFoPL. I am the only person to vote for SFoPL, we have a voter that did not DL all 3 parks, rather just voted for bk's park. 1 null vote on SFoNC *turns off siren* ---- Edit: 6PM, 8 votes, 6DLs on SFoPL still. 2 null votes on SFoNC. ----- Edit: 6:10PM, 9 votes, 6 DLs on SFoPL. 3 null votes for SFoNC now. SFOPL was a funny gimmick, but it just wasn't enough "park" for me. Sure, Six Flags isn't known for its exceptional quality in the theme park world, but realistically, they're more than this. SFONC captured the SF feel better, and I liked pretty much all of the coasters. However, there were just some things that stood out as totally non-SF, like the elaborate theming for the Batman ride and a lot of the Hell-themed rides. Overall, I enjoyed looking at it. Maybe I saw a different park, but SFLL captured the SF feel the best; in fact, had there been no names for the park or rides, or buildings, I'd still have immediately thought "Six Flags!" Sure, the park is small, but the theming, rides, and architecture were all what I would expect from a SF park. Excellent job all around. (only one thing, man... it's greeter. So, it's quantity versus quality. But this one's quite easy for me: my vote goes to SFLL.

After reviewing the parks... SFoNC, a decent looking park with great architecture, all the buildings looks awesome. However, like CP_Mav, I'm not a huge fan of the coasters, Hyper Rails was too overpowering for this size of park. Remember, just because RCT says it's a "hyper" doesn't make it a hyper, the ride looks more like a giga. Now, that I'm off the coaster, I will go onto the flat rides. I gotta say, you lost marks there...I know they're custom flat rides, but they're ugly as heck. Besides the arcitecture I liked the SF logo on the ferris wheel SFLL, a very nice looking park but I didn't really feel the Six Flagn-ness of it. The park reminded me more of an old style amusement park. Don't get me wrong, I really liked the park but didn't feel the Six Flag part of it. Also, thank you to Cp_Mav as he seems to be the only one who sees the satire in my park. When I read that we had to make a SF park I got the inpression that it was supposed to basically be a mockery of SF and that's exactly what I did. The ride names, the dirty dead end paths, the "sit down or sue us" sign, a Deja Vu clone that always breaks down, other coasters that are barely inspected, one train operations, and the whole idea of a parking lot park. The park was meant to look thrown together and out of place, it's just part of the parody...yeesh you people took the park way too seriously. I really dont know who to vote for on this one.

Allow me to explain how SFLL is a Six Flags. The "classic amusement park" area all of you keep getting distracted by is the part that was there before six flags bought the place; cozy, wooded, classy rides and an old wooden coaster with faded paint (I would've done the more vibrent red). The "Xtreme Zone" is the Six Flags side of things; a pair of Vekoma clones and a couple "xtreme" new flats with nothing better than some new quicky-build steel & glass buildings. I based the park off of my expearence with Six Flags America near Washington DC. The frount (read old) area of the park is beautifuly treed, and nicely taken care of. If I didn't know better I would think I'd wandered into one of the 'hidden midways' at Cedar Point. Then suddenly you walk out in to field with coasters plopped randomly around wherever the geological survey said it would be cheapest. That's what Six Flags is to me. I'm sorry that almost nobody understands that, except for Valp... *sigh* You won't see from me for at least another 3 months now, I'm not going to enter for 2nd place a third damn time. ride6

I'll enter at some point in the near future. Next month? Hell no... I have 6 rct-related projects; if you think I have time for another you're crazy. Once I get 2 or 3 of those taken care of then maybe I'll give it a shot. ride6

I've only been to SFWoA/SFO, SFA, SFGAm, SFGAdv, SFDL, and SFMM. So I never really saw the "small classic" park buried in any of those. I halfway agree about the SFA comments, but I guess I still didnt see it in your park. Besides, you only used half of a small map showing that you spent very "little" time on it. As much as I didn't like bk's park, its obvious that he spent more time building it. Why do you have so many rct projects going on at one time anyways? |

Because I am/was in rctx (club) which basically supplies you with group projects, I keep getting called upon by other people to work in "save LL" collabro's and I'm in h2h. That doesn't include anything I'm doing solo-wise. I would spend more time on these things if I had the time to spend, but I don't. ride6

If we start to have bad votes or people not viewing the park, we will have to act accordingly and take action. If that fails, we may have to result to even stricter options. (Say, logged voting/downloading or even just staff voting) If this continues to become a problem, we will have to take serious action. And also, I haven't looked at the parks quite yet, I will get around to that tommorow.

It's already being done... I don't mind voting in the thread itself, I already explain who I vote for and why. Oh, and you aren't missing much. You could just flip a coin and pick the best park. |

So there's no way I can get my park in? It was the dumb ban, and when I talked to a mod (I don't remember what one) he said submissions ended on the 31st at 11:59 PM.

Sorry, no. Once submissions close, that's it. And that mod either gave you the wrong information or misinterpreted the question, I'm sorry to say. For future reference, you can always find the precise closing date and time in the submissions thread.

I don't have time to look at anyone's parks this month, but judging by bk's screen his park does look the best. I don't know how well it fits the Six Flags thing though. It doesn't really matter anyway, as I'm not voting.

it's nice to know that one member's comment on a park can change people's views and opinions. I mean, it's sad when one member makes a negative comment about a park and nobody downloads it afterwards. What does that tell you? It looks like people only vote for the park that some "higher up member" likes. And yea, if you actually read the description for my park you would've seen what CP Mav said. A large mall asked Six Flags to build a park over their parking lot.

I viewed the three parks, this is what I have to say: Six Flags Little Lake: Despite people saying ride6 didn't show a lot of effort, or could've done better, I thought he did a fantastic job making the park actually. It has that feel of a boring generic Six Flags Park. It was a little smaller than I hoped, however that did not affect the decision. Six Flags Over Parking Lot: Good idea, not so great of a excecution. Out of all the park ideas, the parking lot idea was best. If you take a look at a lot of Six Flags park, new coasters are always put on concrete, just look at scream, that thing is ALWAYS over concrete! Or look at Medusa West, over a parking lot as well. I felt that it was too much of a parking lot (AKA the Whole park over a parking lot) and that if you just used the parking lot for the coasters, it proabobly would've won my vote. It was such a great idea, just it didn't follow through for me. Six Flags North Carolina: What can I say, bk2004's park did it again, it was simply amazing. Tons of great rides, great themeing, and great areas. I loved the park a lot, and it had tons of interesting stuff to check out. Only thing was, I personally thought it was a tad bit detailed, meaning that you went over the top in terms of "Six Flag style" stuff. Fantastic park however, great job! My final vote goes for Six Flags Little Lake however, the small park with generic names and areas just fit the example of Six Flags perfectly. You all made fantastic parks. Little Lake just matched the Six Flags description a little better than others. Great job ride6.

Six Flags Little Lake: Kind of a quaint little park divided between a modern and a classical section. The Xtreme Zone part of the park was probably the most accurate portrayal of Six Flags in all three parks, though the Old Town seemed to lack that. On the other hand, Cyclone was a great wooden coaster, and was nicely themed with a very interesting station. The architecture worked well in the various themes, and I thought that the employee names were clever additions, i.e. "Caring Employee". Six Flags Over Parking Lot: This was, by far, the most creative of the parks and the best representation of the stereotypical enthusiast view of Six Flags. Everything about this park brought a chuckle, particularly the names, Mr. Freeze's Frozen Dairy Cups was hilarious. Going beyond the names, this park's lack of any theming, tarmac queue lines, and the fact that it was built over a parking lot made for a great mockery of Six Flags. Six Flags Over North Carolina: This was certainly the best park in the group. The scenery was beautiful, the coasters wonderfully designed, and the architecture superb. However, it didn't convey any sense of Six Flags. If there's a Six Flags that looks half as good as this park, point me to it. Other then the names and the Six Flags logos around the Six Flags Ferris Wheel (which looked awesome by the way) there wasn't any real connection to Six Flags. A great park, to be sure, but not the Six Flags style this contest was about. I'm giving my vote to Six Flags Little Lake. SFoPL was the most creative and SFoNC was the best park, but I thought SFLL pulled off the Six Flags atmosphere I was looking for the best out of the three parks.
