Increase width of site?

The current site is designed to have a width of 800 pixels I believe. But hardly anyone uses small resolutions like that anymore. 1024 x 768 is the new "minimum standard", and the site looks kind of weird on larger or widescreen resolutions. Most new LCD monitors have a default width of 1280 pixels, even.

Any plans on changing this?

Funny you ask... we're fully aware of it, and have already started the process of remedying it within the next few months. If you want to help with the process, more info is here...

When this version of the site was originally designed, most were actually 800x600. But, you don't want to go any wider than for 1024x768, since most people handle information better vertically than horizontally.

I can handle the bump to 1024 but I still use a 15. If anyone wants to buy me a widescreen go ahead.

That'd be fine for me...I'm viewing at 1152 right now on a 17 inch monitor.

Wider would be better looking. Plus allows more stuff on the main page of TN's site.
I recently made the switch with my whole site to the 1024x785 settings.
Hey CHiller. Walmart has nice 19 inch regular CRT monitors for about $150.00 they work great.

I second or third this. I just got a new monitor that's 1280 x 1024, and this site looks really squeezed now.

I like it how it is but I'm sure that this new width will be just as good.

In ways I like the fact that the site does not take up the entire width of the screen, as I feel that it makes the site look better, any site, for that matter. But I also feel that widening the site a bit wouldn't hurt things at all. When I view the site, it takes up approx. half the screen; and I sometimes think it seems a bit squeezed. So either way, wider or current, I'll more than likely be happy and not really care.

Well, if you want to be able to have input on the site and all, you may as well sign up to become a tester (as mentioned above... click on that link) It's a closed test process. Then, if you don't like what appears when we are done, the only thing I will say is that you had your chance to have your say and you squandered it, so it would suck to be you at that point.
