Rating suggestion..

I'd like to suggest putting more options in when rating a coaster. Specifically the number system, would it be possible to give a 9.50 for example instead of a 9 or 10?

[edit] I'm sorry, I explained that really bad haha. What I would like to suggest is having smaller increments for the rating system.

You mean like...

1, 1.50, 2, 2.50, 3, 3.50, 4, 4.50, and so on

Actually, that's a great idea and makes a big difference. CoasterSims does something like that I know of.

If the coaster is perfect, or the best in its class, give it a 10, if not, if its just close, a 9. Have you been on so many coasters that you need 20 different possible numbers to rate them as?

Yes, when you download alot of coasters per week, it would be nice to rate them a little more accuratly than in 10% increments.

Well, here's the problem with all of that...

a) People usually rate in whole numbers to begin with. The aim is to keep it as simple as possible.
b) The only time accurate ratings would be beneficial is if there were something where we required precise ratings for a download. Think of a judged olympic sport (gymnastics, figure skating, etc), where they judge on such a technical level. SpeedZone was not really meant to be technical, but meant to just serve more as a simple guide for uploads, much like IMDB is for movies (think of how their members rate for movies).
c) We had just revamped the rating system. In the past, people just had to rate... not even comment. It led to easy vote bombing. Now, since we require accountability (meaning you have to explain your rating), we haven't even given it enough time to see how effective it is. Mind you, the old system was in place for over 2 years before we really discovered the flaws in it.

Everytime I ride a coaster, it valleys. I've never been on a stalled coaster or had one roll back (except Wicked Twister and what was Superman: Ultimate Escape, which does that by design).

I like pipesdream idea, but Steven you do have a point. If it is aim to be the simpliest then just leave it where it is at.
