can't change password

What the title of the thread says. And yes, they're exactly the same. First I couldn't log in, and so I got a password reset, and I even tried copying and pasting it into the blank that asks for the current password. Any ideas?

I also had the problem with logging in and finally got in after a new password was e-mailed to me. Now i'm trying to change the password and it won't let me.

Here's what you all need to do...

First off, if you know what your password was, DO NOT change the password... passwords have not been changed on here. If you really do not remember your password, then you can push to reset it.

Second, if you are using IE (which most of you are), manually clear all of your cookies (Do this while visiting a site besides TN... Go to tools > internet options, click on delete cookies button). To further clear them manually, close all IE windows and go to where your cookies are located...

Win 95/98/Me: Usually c:\windows\cookies
Win 2000/XP: c:\documents and settings\{XP/2000 login}\cookies

...and delete all but your index.dat file.

Third, go to the main site (meaning http://thrillnetwork.com or http://www.thrillnetwork.com), and click on "Login". DO NOT log in from the forums (we have said this repeatedly since December 2003). Log in with your username and password.

If you have had to reset your password: Reset it first, then, follow steps 2 and 3. If you have problems resetting, then contact me.

If you continue to get failed logins, try another browser, such as Firefox, Mozilla Suite/Netscape 7.x, or Opera. Do not try Netscape 8, AOL browser, Yahoo Browser, or anything else based on the IE core. If that fails, try another computer, and/or make sure any security software allows all cookies for thrillnetwork.com.

So far, I cannot duplicate this when I reset passwords on any test accounts, so I cannot say this is the fault of the server. More than likely, we did a forum upgrade, and with forum upgrades, sometimes cookies need to be cleared in that fashion.

If you continue to have problems beyond trying another browser or another computer, contact me directly (from my profile or using the contact us form), detailing everything you tried. In addition, I will need to know your operating system (with any service packs), web browser (the exact version, usually found under Help > About Internet Explorer or About Mozilla Firefox, for example), any and all virus and security software you are using (and versions), username, and password. Any other pertinent information will also be helpful.

Thanks Steven. Did IE update something that throws off the cookies.
Things seem to be working now.

IE's cookie handling has always sucked.

In addition, I found an error that was created by instituting the ad type... I've since worked around it.

However, for everyone else, follow the above info.
