Emergency maintenance

ThrillNetwork will be going down between 9:30pm and 10:30pm ET and is expected to be down for about 4-5 hours due to emergency maintenance.

Chat WILL NOT be up in any way, and is expected to be down for some time.

More than likely... it's just a matter of when. Right now, we're in the midst of ordering new hardware because we had to move the site to another server we own.

Also, leeloo, I doubt this affected your account.

To kind of keep people in the loop as to what's going on...

ThrillNetwork's server is experiencing issues that is affecting the performance. Because the symptoms looked as if it would have been catastrophic, we moved the site to one of our other servers (we have 3 at our disposal for certain things). Since the server has been in use for at least 4 years with some upgrades, we are going to build a new server to replace it so that things will hopefully be faster in processing.

Current TN.net sites are still on that server, and will experience downtime anywhere between tonight and Friday.

Anything related to the secure server on TNJobs (updating resume, etc.) is also down until we get TN back on its own server.

Also, because the server that it is on is not configured to allow email to be sent out for thrillnetwork.com, any email notifications (PM notifications, birthday greetings, post updates, etc.) WILL NOT WORK until we can get it fixed. If you need to get in touch with us, email us directly at thrillnetworkadmin <at> gmail <dot> com (replace <at> with @, and <dot> with .), with the subject "My Account: <username>" (replace <username> with your actual registered screen name).

The reason why chat will be down for a while is that everything related to it was wiped out as in nothing exists anymore. Thrillbot, the server, etc. was isolated from everything else on that server (hence why nothing else is affected). However, chat, in the form we are familiar with, may not come back as we come up with something that will not invite potential security issues as we have been evaluating the security of chat as of late (due to viruses, exploits, etc. that can spread in IRC itself). We will work on other alternatives, but we do not have a timetable for chat at this moment, as the priority is the new hardware.

SpeeeZone: The top 10/New 10 updated on a schedule (every 10 minutes). However, because of the server move, the schedule is disrupted. That might be restored in the interim.

The new hardware, as it seems, could take about 2-3 weeks itself for it to get built and set up.

Yeah, if you want to pay I'll be glad to make sure it doesn't happen again.

We don't have to have chat, you know.

Well I certainly hope it will still be IRC accessable instead of one of those cruddy applet type programs, those are no fun whatsoever.

When being sarcastic in a post, it'll be better if you put a . It'll help...a lot...

Anyways, maybe you should limit the TN.net accounts(if it helps). I remember seeing the 50 mb disk space thing in the user control panel before I got rid of my TN.net account.

The chances of that happening is slim because of the reasons I mentioned. If I do, it will be using Secure IRC or something else. Basically IRC, as we knew of it, will not be used.

I, for one, would love to see the chat return. I'm in there basically every night along with a few other regulars, who I think would also love for it to come back. I'm having coaster chat withdrawal symptoms!

It's like regular chat on a more secure server, I believe. It would help keep out viruses and other things that have been crepping on to IRC chats all over the internet lately.

I'm having a problem with getting emails from TN on replies fromt the forum. I don't get any at all, even several hours after the reply is posted. I haven't changed my settings or touched my email service. I've had this problem before and had to change my email address to fix it. I don't want to have to do it again. It started after the site was down for maintaining. I'm not sure if anybody else was effected but what can I do to fix this?
