Dive Machine

I wonder how long it'll be till parks in the U.S. get dive machines like oblivion. It hit me why not build one they look fun and i dont think they would be that expensive i wonder if any park in the U.S will get one this year?

Yeah... ok

They look fun? Well, if you consider an over-priced gyro-drop fun... Use your head. Why in the world would a park build one when they can get a less expensive and better freefall attraction? Oh yeah, it's because they actually have some brain power.

Why do we need Oblivion when we have Hypersonic?

i don't know if this is right, but i've heard the ride compacity is verly low. you would have to make put in several mid course brakes to have a high capacity, and no one wants a lot of brakes.

P.S. they do look like fun though, especialy the one built in S. Africa.

That coaster in South Africa, Shaft of Terror, was not made by Giovanola. That is just a silly rumor. And besides, that ride is completely different than B&M dive machines, which is what this topic is about.

Hopefully, at least one will be built in the US, but I doubt it. It's novelty has worn off. It's too short and .... pointless. US parks are looking forward to much better thigns like B&M Prone, B&M floorless, S&S Thrust Air, Arrow 4D, Intamin hypers, etc.

Bloody Alton Towers had that exclusive deal with the dive machine, and it looks like it, and that other park in Taiwan will be the only ones with it.

It looks like a cool ride but who really knows (beside the people who have ridden it).

The coaster Mine Diver in Gold Reef City, South Africa, was NOT, I repeat, NOT made by Giovanola! It was designed and built by Nauta Bussink. Go check the Nauta Bussink website!

Oblivion & G5's capacities are both quite high. I think Oblivion has 7 (?) trains altogther and the queue never gets too long.

For anyone that's never been on it, or G5, I wouldnt mock it just because you havent been on it, it's a unique exerience & I can imagine the design would be very flexible, after all, both Oblivion & G5 drop 180ft and enter the brake run very fast.

Lol, birdie311, where would u intend on putting the midcourse brakes? ;)

and they could probably make the track more complex it just hasn't been done yet. And i bet the TA2k's and Dive Machines are completely different feeling wise. I mean that can almost be compared to be why build hypers since we have gigas now.

Hey

The Mine Diver at Gold Reef was indeed designed by NB.
BUT NB was bought out by Gio.
The thing is i recived an E-mail for Gio that seemed to suggest there are 2 Giovanola's One who built Eurostar and one that built the other 3 coasters (Titan, Goliath, Annaconda).
I may of missread this but its possible and would accound for alot of confusion.
The NB Mine diver was then sold by Giovanola but NB carryed on the Construction with the park.
Kind of like how Intamin used to sell old Schwartzer Rides back in the era of Big Bend and Revolution.

Also the NB mine diver is almost EXACTLY the sam as the B&M ones.
Lift, Corner, Drop, Tunnel, Corner, Corner, brakes
The only track difference is the angle of the turns etc.

And finnaly the Mine Divers/ Diving Machines are brilliant rides. they are just too short and expensive. As soon as the cost comes down and the length increases these rides will be (even more) awesome.
Nothin beats hanging over the edge of that drop for a pure adrenaline rush (at least untill i go skydiving next april)

Just my Opinions anyway

they are fun but get boring after a while. I think a ta2k would be more fun. Oblivion is good for a park like at but i'm not sure it would fit in in a place like SF cause they just wouldn't theme enough.

The only reason that there aren't any more built is because of that AT exclusivity (did I spell that right) clause. While no other park could build it, B&M made some pretty cool new innovations like the floorless coaster, launched lift, and dueling invert. If AT puts the same thing AIR, it will probably end up in the same boat.

Actually Rebel, you can rest assured, I've heard that Althon definately ultimately DID NOT put exclusive rights on the dive machine.

If you could put rights on a coaster concept, would Arrow have done that with the corkscrew, or wouldn't Intamin done that with the vertical loop? Just think of all the extra money the would get when another company uses their concept. It would be nice to see a dive machine in America.

I doubt that, but yes by the time b+m can build more the concept won't be new anymore.

I think a dive machine with a 300ft drop followed by a really huge (600ft+) barrel roll (150ft+ high) would be cool

Uuuuh, actually, the launched lift was not built nor supported by B&M. Just to let you know.

It would be nice, but it would either have to be short, or long with like 4 trains. Lots of breaks in my opinion, and if they were going to build one, you would rather want a long one (longer than oblivion) and a good amount of speed, or would u rather get a S&S coaster like hyper sonic?

your right... oblivion is sooo short, but to me its better than nemesis, and the pepsimax big one... trust me, its a force to be reckoned with. You cant compare it to a free fall ride, because its totally different in looks and feeling, first of all you drop vertical, facing the floor, you also approach the drop and hang over the edge for 3 seconds adding to the suspence, when you drop and begin to straighten out you feel tramendous g-forces, and because the weight is totally behind you you are literally forced downwards, instead of free falling, and with the likes of oblivion at alton towers themeing plays a giant part as you travel underground, without that the ride wouldnt be half as good.

and about the Air launch coaster being better, i havent ridden it, but i dont like the idea of such a powerful launch, wouldnt it hurt? nad hasnt it had a lot of problems recently? Oh and one last thing, oblivion lasts around 45 seconds long, the air launch coaster (cant remember the name) lasts 19 or something, much shorter.

The air launch coaster you're talking about is Hypersonic XLC, and yes, it is short.

If you wanted to ride a gyro drop you could go anywhere and find on real close, if you want to ride a dive machine, pack you bags cuz u need to start heading for england. maybe if you would stop saying what parks should do cuz its less expensive, cuz maybe they want huge ass crowds and want something new, god USE YOUR HEAD. MAYBE THIS IS Y NOBODY LIKES YOU AND THINK THAT YOU SHOULD BE KICKED OFF COASTERFORUMS.

I think we'll see one as soon as AT's exclusivitivity (sp?) runs out.
When is that, BTW?
