Boarding Impulse Coasters

Don't flame me if this has already been discussed elsewhere, but something that I've been wondering about. Last year I got the chance to ride both V2 at SFGAM and SUE at SFWOA, and it was almost comical watching some people trying to hop into those seats. Then it came my turn, and it was probably comical for those behind me in line.

Does anybody know if Wicked Twister at CP will have a modified way of boarding the trains, or will people with a "lack of grace," which is the majority of us, have to hop up into the seats?

Either way, can't wait to ride it!

there is a step stool. i think it is cool that they dont have the lowering floors (well MW will now have one) it is just LAUNCH......
without the floor going down, it is so cool. not a lot of people have this problem though, so i hope they don't put a retractable floor in ours.

That's weird, because all other inverted has raising platform, even including Linear Gale, the first Impulse coaster. But for the later Impulses..... I have no idea why they did that, unless Six Flags wants to cut cost.......

Yeah, that may be it. SF always seem like they want to save money. For some reason I feel CP's wont have the raising platform, but whatever. If people laugh, who cares, its not like you know them (well I would hope not). On the other hand, CP may have the raising platform because it is more of a family park, and the height requirement may be lower than other impulses.

I've never ridden one but is it really that hard to get into the seat? Also, since the floor doesn't drop does it make a better foot chopper experience?

It's not a problem for me and im 5'1" maybe it's because i rode V2 14 times this year. I actually enjoyed jumping into the seats, but never again :flip:

These are some good responses, even though no one seems to know for sure. Here's my theory: having been a ride op at the Point, I know that they are concerned with ride capacity. That means that they will probably have a raised, retractable floor so that cycle time is not lost by people trying to jump into those seats repeatedly.

Another thing I noticed riding V2 and SUE - Intamins seats are a bit snug, compared to B&M's. I've gotten a bit heavy over the years, but never felt any discomfort in Beemas, whereas it was a tight squeeze into the Intamin seats. Good thing that MF's seats are totally different. But having trouble fitting in rollercoaster seats (also had a time with Shivering Timbers) was the final motivation I needed to start losing weight!

To the best of my knowledge, no Intamin inverted has retractable floors. Im sure that Volcano @ PKD which is an Intamin creation, does NOT have a retractable floor, but then again it doesn't launch directly out of the station. Personally, I just think it's Intamins way of doulg things.

i hope wicked twister does have retractable floors because like someone else said it will probably save some time, and definitly be easier to get into.

I guess that they might check his height on dejavu, but isn't the limit like 6'4 or somethin? anyways... i know this isn't a coaster, but Acrophobia at SFOG seats are really hard to get into... i'm 5'11 and i still have to jump to get in there... i feel sorry for the people who just make 56" ! the seats a really uncomfortable too(especially for guys) its like the stand-up coaters thing that your legs go around, but thats the only thing holdin you up, you can't relieve the pain by stickin your legs down!!! (but acro is still an awesome ride!)

Not really, check this out on Linear Gale. It has raising floor.

hehe My thought on Boarding Impulse Coasters: Why did this park cheat me out of longer circuit launched coaster? This is a cheap way to up the park's coaster count. hehe sorry bout my evil thought.

The reason for Linear Gale having a retractable floor is that Japanese people are shorter in average compared to americans

you must have not been on one yet. the impulses are not cheap, either. almost as much as a regular coaster

I'll never get to ride Deja Vu sadly enough. Not because I don't live close to one, I visit Chicago regularly anywyas, but I'm only 14 and I'm 6'5" so I'm already over the limit. My home park is Kings Island and I can barely fit in Adventure Express, Son of Beast, Vortex (other than the front car, I usually deal with the tight fit in the back for the airtime...)

My question I pose to you is this:

Why would I want to ride Deja Vu?

I don't enjoy getting stuck in Cobra Rolls....

One of my younger sisters had a problem when we were riding S:UE. She's about 5 feet tall, and it took her such a long time to get into the seats that a ride attendant had to come and help her get it.

I think I read here once that one person's theory for no retracting floors is what if they went up after the ride launched?

I believe they are built that in a loss of power or whatever they stay down (like needing power to be up).

The first park to have an Impulse Coaster has a good reason. Korakuen Yuenchi at Tokyo Dome is located in busy downtown area. There is literally no place to put a full size coaster. The small footprint of Impulse perfectly fit into a small plot of land next to the busy street.

But for Six Flags, I guess they just want to buy bulk, so the individual price is low. It's just a 'new type' of Boomerang. A cheap, simple and having a small footprint.

Where does it say anything about CP being a SF park? If your refering to the post above yours, he was probably talking about all the v2 and s:ue clones. WT is different since it is over 200 feet and has 2 spikes that have a twist. WT is more then the SF v2's.
