By the way, how much is too much? 2 or 3?

Mr. Markey claimed there is a disturbing trend in increasing speed and Gs since 1990. Well, speed yes, but it has nothing to do with injuries. But Gs, that's totally bull. Coasters like MF pulls even less Gs than a Schwarzkopf Wildcat! Most Beemers only goes around 4, some even less! It's a long time ago when coasters with more than 6Gs were designed!

I dare to challenge Mr. Markey to take a accelerometer to sample loopers from different period and see where is the trend he claimed!

Yes, gravitaional forces on coasters may be harmful to some people (with health conditions), but it's perfectly safe for 99.9999......% of the population. So, are we being penalized because some folks refused to pay attention to the warning signs? It's like forcing all the movies made PG because there is no way of stopping minor to sneak on R movies.

Hmmm...... may be organizations like ACE should start lobbying, trying to get some congress members which can be trusted.

Mr. Markey, you are dispicable as Joseph McCarthy, and you're certainly not Ralph Nader. Go and pick on something else that's beneficial to taxpayers!

Markey reminds me of an evil Energizer bunny. He just keeps going and going and going and going................. on and on with this "coasters are unsafe" thing. Give it up already!

May be the thread is here because if NJ does what Markey wants, Nitro, B:TR, Chiller, Great N'or Easter and Medusa may end up around the globe.......

Don't know why it's in World Wide coasters. Those rides will not be taken out. The ex post facto laws would never allow this. The rides were built before the legislation was (if) passed so they can't do anything about them.

The only thing Markey is doing is taking taxpayers money to go into a pointless investigation. I'm sick of markey and his extremely wrong "data." His site is NO help either, and actually adds to the chaos he's trying to create.

I just can't believe he actually has pepole backing him up on this. If i lived in Jersey I would Definetly write to my congressperson and let them know the facts IAAPA gives. They could be just as wrong, but at least you have two sides to the argument. I'm also sick of markey blaming pre-existing medical conditions on the rides themselves. If markey had his way, he would have blamed Montezooma's Revenge for the death of the lady. I remember an Article sortly after the MR accident saying it's because new rides are going faster and are getting taller. I can't STAND that, the ride is in it's twenties and they are blaming the death because of new rides!! That's just a heap of steaming BS right there.

I'm Sure you have seenthis before, but here it is agin. Look, proof that Markey is using drastically inaccurate information. I really suggest you write your local congressman and let them know what a pile of BS this all really is.

This hardly belongs in world wide parks. I'll move this to American Coasters, as that is funamentally what it is about - no specific park or parks, just coasters in general.

Stupid pinkos. Always trying to get the federal government to ban things that they don't like.

Sure, this legislation has support. But parks are run by corporations. Corporations have the money. They can get a team of skilled lawyers to defend themseleves against this wrong headed data.

Makes me proud to be in a capatilist country.

Wow sounds like bad news for NJ coasters but where do you come off calling this guy a pinko anyway. We live in a republic (not a democracy - listen to your pledge of allegiance) and we have rights under the constituion he is just voicing the concerns of patrons that have suffered injuries. He is backed by lobbyists that are going to try to sell this issue to congress. I don't agree with his proposal but he has every right to push this issue whether you like him or not and I know we have freedom of speech and you can saw what you want but calling him a pinko? What does communism have to do with G force legislation? Hey I don't care much for NRA members but do I call them Nazi's...no I don't.

Remember now that getting laws passed in the US agianst coasters will be VERY VERY hard.

States like Cali, Fl, Ohio, etc. (a lot of votes) would object because a lot of their money comes from these rides.

He would have to fight Six Flags, Cedar Fair, Universal and the biggest threat of all... Disney. Disney's power alone could probably stop him.

Ok, I now hate markey with a passion lol. He's so stupid with all of these claims he makes. I wish he'd go ride an old looper and then ride a new looper with something that tested g's while he rode it and see which one is more intense, hmm. Why is that guy so bent on closing rollercoasters, would he actually use our tax money to stop something that's actually harmful or do something that actually helps out our country. URG!!!

There have been 58 cases since 1992...I say that is not that dangerous. I say that those peole that had injuries had already done something to injure their brain before they got on the coaster and getting on it only made it worse. It may quite very well be just the visitor's fault.

Hey I don't like it either but do you understand the magnitude of your comments PINKOS and RUFFING HIM UP - I hate to break it to you but no one is going to listen to your case if you use comments like that especially if you try to threaten him even in jest. Do you think any lawyer would refer use comments like that - come on guys and if are going to plead your case do it the right way respectfully and intelligently.

Yeah, this Markey guy is pretty stupid. I certainly hope he doesn't get re-elected for office. He's definately setting himself up for failure in this battle against coasters. What a loser.

Disney would be a threat, but how many "threatening" coasters do you see at Disney parks?
