| PKD's FOF Accident
Is it true during the off season a ride-op training on FOF was injured when he was crossing the track and the train launched with him on it? This was something I heard from an op at PKI when I noticed the extra checks of the train while waiting to be launched.

If that did happen, and I seriously doubt it, the ride operator would have probably been more than just injured, if not killed. I suppose it depends on where in the train he/she was and what position they were in when the train launched. I guess anything can happen though. A person in the Navy was pulled into a jet fighter engine, and survived with only a few scrapes and bruises. If you hear anymore about the accident, be sure to post it.

For the jet sucking thing (wow, that sounds bad...), the guy was sucked in, but the pilot saw it happen, and shut the engine down, so the guy could grab hold of something inside the cowling until it powered down fully. I've seen the video of it... But this FOF thing I don't really beleive...

it seems really unlikely there are always rumours about this kind of thing.

If this really happened, this person would be dead, it would have been reported, and it would've been on the freaking today show, among other things, and by now we would have even more people whining about how the government doesn't do enough to regulate rides. In short, this will become just another urban legend. |

I dont believe this story at all. I dont think that just because they check to see if the train is clear that somehting happened at PKD. I know that at SUF, we check very often to make sure there are no employees in the way of the train. We also have extensive crossing rules employed. |

SUF would be real dangerous. you guys better make sure those air gates are tight, cuz if someone ran out into the loading area, and doesn't see the train coming thru at that speed, it would knock them dead and same with the 2 people in the front row. |

But yeah, I do not think that this actually happened because it would have bben in the news.

Over at the main ThrillNetwork site, we got an anonymous submission about this very same thing...only when I called the park, they said they knew nothing of it. I have a couple friends at the park that I'm sure would have told me of the accident, and no one's heard a thing. There are sensors all over that ride to keep that sort of accident from happening. It would require a pretty big failure of the system for someone to get caught in "the line of fire" during take-off. Like someone said earlier, this is probably just an urban legend.

I am pretty sure this is how it went down... the guy got sucked into the engine but his jacket caught onto something. The engine didn't get the air it needed to produce the energy and automatically shut down. I think that guy is near deaf now. I am pretty sure that is what happened.

he could have survived if it happened. i saw some show the other night where two guys were skydiving with aid of some kind of flying device ( like a jet pack or something) and they colided at a combined speed of 300 mph, and one of them survived it. but if that happened i doubt the ride would have been open for the season without a huge investigation...
