Demon/Thunderbolt Express Question

I was checking out rcdb.com yesterday. I was looking at PKI and saw a past coaster named Demon. They say its an Arrow Launched loop, that was later moved to Camden Park as Thunderbolt Express. The description and pictures make it look really lame. It's also quite ugly. There are still a few operating around the world. Are these things as dumb as they look?

"Bat", now that's a ride!

Actually, look at some recent trip reports and people have said that these are actually pretty cool.

Interesting. I guess it's like the wild mouse coasters that look dumb, but really aren't.

"Does anyone have pictures? Does Camden Park serve Coke?"

Why does the loop on these coasters need that extra support? Anyone know?

The dreaded Vekoma Boomerang doesn't need it...
The speeds seem slow...
Maybe it's just a weird decoration.

I've been on Sidewinder at SFEG, and thought it was an OK ride... not the greatest rush in the world, but it does provide some good airtime.

Ok, I just thought it looked like a cheesy mid-70's coaster whose only purpose was so parks could say "Look we've got one of those looping ones now too!!"

I think they look not too bad. I will find out when I go to Fun Spot on the way home from my CP trip in August. I still wouldn't mind having the old Black Widow coaster in my backyard though. Of course I would take any coaster in my backyard.

standard Arrow OTSRs. But the ride sounds pretty good. I going to try to hit the Fun Stop next year and find out. (it's sad i haven't been there. It's only 30 min. from where i live.)

Oh, here's a link to a reveiw of an Arrow Shuttle Loop: http://dialspace.dial.pipex.com/town/lane/xxg01/coasterkingdom/html/revolution_main.htm

Sounds like the back seat is insane... :p

It's very suprising, I can't imagine such great airtime with a 50' drop. I'd love to check one out, but there's only 4 in the world, and three in the US. And the closest (Fun Spot) is 566 miles away..

Thunderbolt Express at Camden has been closed for quite a while. I went there last year, and it was down.

Yes, I heard there was a sign on that said it would be open for 2002, but so far it hasn't opened. rcdb lists it as SBNO

Yeah, it never opened in 2002, I believe it's been closed since either 1999 or 2000.
