Cool, hopefully this system will be applied to more rides in the future. There are a lot of cool possibilities.

I went to the site, but I couldn't get the picture of the coaster. I was looking at the other coasters at that park and they looked pretty cool, so I bet the virtual reality one would be cool.

Sparks, if you went to that site and did a little hunting, you would have found out that virtual coaster is the ONLY coaster at the park.

I just went back, and saw that it was only one. Sorry, but if that's just one then that is VERY cool.

oh yeah I've seen this before. Dunno where, but there was a big write up of it. *thinks*
Anyway, the virtual reality part basically turns a relatively small family coaster into a cooler main attraction.
Besides, there's closer head/foot choppers on such a thing than you could make in real life... and er.... neater scenery? that oh! that can be reprogrammed.
And other than that, it's a novelty. I'd ride it. :)

That's really cool. I can only wonder what other idea's/changes they could come up with in the future. 3D-WrapAroundMonitor-VR-Coaster....

Sweet.

SFOG Freak, imagine riding a coaster called Top Gun and on the monitor in front of you, there was a POV of a dog fight. Perhaps a race car or a Star Ship or how about an Indiana Jones escape from a Tomb etc. etc.

You could have the intense physical speed & thrills of a coaster, combined with the psychological excitement of the visuals found on a 4D ride.

^ Well, it's obvious your the only guy that doesn't like it...But oh well. It's a pretty cool idea. It'd be funny to see a Star Wars one with you acting as a pilot and the coaster being the obstacles your going through...BTW, I can't see Six Flags putting any of these babies in any time soon.

BTW, is what appears on screen what the coaster is going through?

I really doubt it. Judging from the pictures, it dosen't look like it goes fast or do anything special. With the weight of the virtural reality headsets, I am guessing it just goes fairly slow.

It's "Queue".

Sounds like a fun coaster. I'd do it, just because.

Imagine a ride where it's inside a warehouse, but you see dinosaurs, or space ships, etc.

I was thinking along the same lines, G-Farce, I thought it had pretty cool themeing to begin with. Then, I read the stats. Obviously this wouldn't be put on a B&M floorless or Intamin rocket giga strata loopty doo, but for parks that have a very limited amount of space, you can take a relatively lame ride and turn it into something different, and perhaps more thrilling.

EDIT: After viewing their website in English, instead of the word 'dining' they use the word 'gastronomy.'

That looks like a really cool idea and should make a fun ride. I would just feel weird having a big helmet over me on the ride.

It's an interesting concept with some potential, though I'm not too eager to see it applied elsewhere. I wouldn't really want to ride a coaster wearing those things, though.

I don't see the point in having a virtual reality coaster. To me, it's either one or the other. Part of what makes a coaster truly exciting is knowing that you're actually doing those amazing things. A virtual ride is fine, but why bother putting it on a coaster when they can just do it by itself? If you're going to spend all the money on a virtual reality coaster, instead just put it into a better version of either the VR experience or just a better coaster. Just my opinion.

^I agree, the only problem is that the park may have a very limited space, such as the current circumstances at Space Center. I am sure the ride is quite boring at only 1640' and no lift hill. I bet it doesn't break 20-25mph. By the way, has anyone ridden this thing? Thoughts? Comments?

That coaster does sound fun.

I wonder what you see when you are riding it.

I think something blocking your complete vision is a pretty cool concept. Like a dark ride only with something to look at. They should have made it with large sudden drops.

I've always thought that if they could put an interactive dog fight on a Top Gun it would be one of the best rides around.

Imagine, a modification of that idea........

You see a nomal coaster, like any others, take Joker's Jinx, in plain sight, but then you have VR themeing, like from the line, it looks normal, but on the ride, you have those screens that show the normal ride, but with things popping out at you. Try to visualize what Im saying....

I think it would be really cool if there was a loop. you wouldn't know when it was coming, and you'd all of a sudden go upside down, get some air time while watching a video of something. I think it would be a great way to watch tv.

People complain about headbanging on some looping coasters now, imagine going upside down with a Sony Trinitron strapped to your head  OUCH! :D
