Where the coaster dosen't make it's full circut. Like say TTD launches and dosen't quite make it up the the 420ft mark and come back down backwords. Hope that helps.
tip: when they say it is not running in the morning still stay in line it is usually about a 45 minute fix or maybe a half hour
better tip: get the freeway stamp at 2pm and then only wait 10-15 minutes total.

pearlsea- You can probably find that video---just do a search on Google.

If I had followed that tip on 6/15, I would have been in line for 8 hrs.

I agree with Magnum Robert. Get the Freeway stamp.

I saw so many rollbacks when I was there, that I was just praying that a couple would make it over. The line doesn't move very fast when they don't make it over. ;)

I was at Cedar Point yesterday, and I witnessed a rollback. There's actually a pretty good story about it.

It was maybe 4:00 or so and where the mist sprays on the track like right before the hill I heard a pop and saw a foot long black thing fall off the ride. After that I saw the ride launch again, making it up successfully, after about two more launches though the ride shut down for mechanical reasons. My group had just gotten some Dippin Dots so we figured it might be an easy fix and we sat in line along the fence eating them. Two of the girls in the group decided they would go on Corkscrew while we waited, so they did that and came back. The other three had ridden TTD first thing in the morning and decided we were not going to wait for them to fix the ride. Right before the two got on the ride they called on the radio and said something like "We are getting on the ride now, wait for us at the exit." As they are sitting ready to launch we spot them, and then launch. As they moved up to the top, they made it, seemed to stop for what seemed like an eternity, and began to roll backwards. I guess the magnetic brakes slowed them down, and a minute or so later they launched again successfully over the top.

It was really weird how the car just seemed to hang on the top forever and you had no clue which way it was going to come down. Pretty interesting.

No, the magnetic brakes did now slow them down. They just magically came to a stop with out the assistance of the brakes.

Alright, a rollback.

Apparently on TTD, the train needs to be launched at least 120 mph for it to have enough momentum to make it over the 420ft tophat of the ride. Sometimes, for reasons such as weather, the train will launch and not reach 120 mph, therefore the train will not make it over the 420ft hill. What happens after that is that the train will roll backwards (hence the term "rollback") until it gets to the station and is safely stopped by the fail-proof brakes.

I know it would slow the line down a lot, but it's too bad they can't give EVERY ride a rollback -- you know, just launch it a little slower the first time. It just looks like it would be so much more fun that way since as it is it's over too quickly...

OK, maybe not every time, but just do it randomly so it happens more often...

Next time I'm at CP I'm going to keep riding TTD till I get the rollback, damnit! :D

When it does rollback, it takes it awhile for the train to make it back to the launch area. The brake fins go down, the trains starts to roll backwards, the fins go up, the train stops. This repeats a couple of times. It is not a quick process.

When its a rollback does the train get to launch again to make it all the way up?

Yeah, it sure does. That is why so many people (including myself) dream of getting a rollback. You get to experience something totally out of the ordinary, and then you get to ride again normally without waiting in that line.

^ Sometimes it takes more than one try to get it up and over the top. That's what I've seen before. But they always empty the train and test it before they send the riders back on again.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. That does not happen as a result of a rollback. Having TTD launch some four or five times before making it over (which I've seen happen) does not necessarily indicate a mechanical problem (which would be the reason to vacate the loaded train for testing).
