Just a thought that passed my mind...

Lets remember back Memorial Day Weekend when all the coaster shows were on the Discovery Channel...now lets focus on the first one that covered the California coasters and it's conjunction on recent SFMM rumors.

I've been hearing alot lately about a new hyper woodie and some drop ride in the middle of a helix, but I don't think it will happen due to the info that was given to us in the G.R.P. Show. I remember when they rode Ghostrider they talked about how it was great and all, but also said that it required something close to two times the amount of lumber that regular woodies use because of the quakes in Ca. So how could they make a hyper woodie with the California safty requirment of the extra supports?

My only solution is make the supports out of steel and the track out of wood...kinda like Great White and Cornball Express. If this does happen with the steel supports I'm sure it'll start a huge argument over whether it should be considered a steel or wooden coaster. Who knows? Just food for thought...

The vast majority of people agree that roller coasters with steel supports and wooden track are considered wooden coasters. I don't think there'd be a problem with that. I do see your point though and would say that a hyper woodie is unlikely due to the amount of lumber needed, and the fact that Son of Beast wasn't all that successful.

SOB was not successful because of builders. Steel supports would be my best bet for a hyper woodie in Cali.
