| Online photos of coasters on Smugmug
I know that there are a few of us here that post up our various pictures from parks and rides that we've posted. A bunch of us use smugmug. With their new communities, we have one called, appropriately enough, roller coasters. If you've got pictures on Smugmug, it would be great if you joined the community and help create a larger area that people can look for coasters and park photos. If you're interested, you can find it here: http://www.smugmug.com/community/RollerCoasters It'll help us also to be able to create a bigger network of "friends" on it. Individual galleries are also RSS and Atom feedable, though I'm not sure about the community pages on that one yet. And for those that don't have their pictures up online yet, SmugMug is a fantastic place to use for it. No limits on storage, and a huge bandwidth allowance- enough so that even when mine was slammed with screamscape viewers it still held up. :) Lots of features on categorizing, sorting, commenting, editing, ordering and getting prints, etc. It's normally $30 a year, but if you get a referal from one of the several of us that use it, you'll save $5 on that. So lets see all you smugmug users together. :)

Well, when you look at what they offer, you're not paying for the website. You're paying for them storing all of your digital photos, and for a ton of services that they offer for it. When I figure I've got about 40 gigs of photos on it, how much would I pay for a separate hard drive or cd's to store all of them? More than what I pay for Smugmug, that's for sure.

SmugMug rocks. I use it for all of my photos and have uploaded more than 2000 already in seven months. Sure, you can use one of the free galleries, but give the one week trial a shot and then you'll see why its worth $25 a year. The upload speeds are great, the customization is good and best of all I've never come close to blowing bandwidth even when I used some of the photos on my website and in huge photo trip reports. I highly recommend it. My gallery is in my sig I do believe |
