^ i was kinda dissapointed in kanonen. it is exactly tall, in a matterof fact, it is'nt tall at all!! Kanonen's barrel roll is so spread out it takes the whole spinning feeling away!

Why did they use a Hydraulic Launch for such a slow speed(46mph)?

It's probably cheaper to use hydraulics than LIM or LSM.

The more likely reason is that the ride is probably in a restricted line load area. There are some areas there the cost of electricity doubles if the current exceeds a certain value even once. LIM will have high current spikes. Hydrualics build up pressure over a period of time. This uses low current over a longer period as opposed to high current for short periods of time.

Let gravity do the work.

/\ Not just that, the hydraulic catapult system also has an advantage over the electromagnetic methods. It is able to accelerate a train to a high speed without requiring a very long stretch of "launch track."

I also think the track issue also has to deal with the way supports are attached to the track.

Look at Millennium Force's triangle track - box track
and Superman's two rail track.

Notice how the triangle track support's go all the way through the track. The box track is attached at the base of the track.

Hmm, something to think about.

With that though, its the "wire" support and not the beam. With support systems like TTD it goes all the way through also I believe.

The distance between supports increases the amount of force that each connection to the track must withstand. Millennium Force's lattice supports connect at two close points then have a long strech then two close connection then a long strech and so on. They don't need the stronger connection to the track because there is another connection close by. Top Thrill Dragster, Wicked Twister, and many other coasters use a stronger rectangular track connection because there is only a single point per support as opposed to two on MF's lattice.

The factor with triangular track as for the support extending to the top is because the track lattice cannot withstand high lateral forces from the bottom rail. All such connections on Millennium Force with rectangular track either has no lateral force or the distance between supports is small enough not to requrie stronger connections.
