Before you start another thread on "This coaster looks cool, but I can't find any info" try http://rcdb.com. It should answer all your coastering questions.

Yes, it is fun to ride. Having been reading these threads for some time I'm sure some punk will chime in with "Correction, Desperado is not a fun ride." But, it is. Also, SPAMKING, as somebody said, the name is indeed in the link. Make sure you read carefully before you deem it absolutely necassery. And Andy P, in this case RCDB would have helped because the name wa sin the link. However, in most cases I've seen the name is not in the link. RCDB searches for park and coaster names, it will not search for "that cool yellow coaster" so asking what it is on these baords is really the easiest and fastest way to find out. |
Yes, it is fun to ride. Having been reading these threads for some time I'm sure some punk will chime in with "Correction, Desperado is not a fun ride." But, it is.
Nope, not fun :). Bruns, all you do is whine, complain, and b*tch about the members of this site. If you hate the members so much, then leave . At least, not fun in 90 degree heat being bashed around. I'm sure the ride was fantastic back in its glory days, but it has not aged well. Some nice air (5, maybe 6 spots, the first drop has surprisingly little air) but many rough turns and transitions. It sure looks cool though, too bad it hasn't aged well.

To all of those people that who have not ridden it and say they would like to - here's a warning: Desperado, in simple terms, is a piece of sh_ t. I have ridden all kinds of rough and painful coasters, and ironically, for a hypercoaster with no horse-collars, it is in my top 5 most painful and not fun. I, like some of you guys, thought it looked really cool and had known about it for awhile but never got to ride it because I was too much of a wimp. When I became a full fledged enthusiast, I made my parents pull over into Buffallo Bills on our way to Las Vegas so my sister and I could ride Desperado. It just looked too cool and it would become one of the largest coasters I have ever ridden. I wish somebody would have stopped me. Besides Desperado, I have been on another Arrow hyper, the Magnum XL-200 at Cedar Point, and Desperado can't touch it, even though Desperado is much larger in every dimension. However, it rides nothing like Magnum. Imagine the roughest wooden rollercoaster you have been on. And now take that pain and discomfort and imagine yourself on a large steel hypercoaster. I know that's hard to imagine, but that's how it is. That's how bad Desperado was. And I'm a coaster enthusiast, that again, has ridden his share of coasters, painful or not. I was begging to God, no exaggertion, to let me off about halfway through the ride. The ride was not even that fun to compensate for the extreme discomfort I was being put through. The transitions are so bad, there is a lot of jolting movement in the trains, as well as a non-stop jack-hammering sensation and car shuffling - all while going faster than 60 mph. You can imagine what that was like. After the thrilling first drop (the only non painful and thrilling part), everything else that follows is not even tolerable. Making it worse is that the coaster has a VERY LONG track length, meaning it felt it like forever before it ended. Make what you will of that. I am not blowing anything out of proportion, that's just how bad Desperado was. You couldn't even pay me a $20 bill to go back on it, and I'm one to seek rollercoasters at every opporunity possible...Hell, I'd pay money to go on the Togo-designed Manhattan Express in Las Vegas, but won't take money to ride Desperado.
