Okay, just ruminating a little, but think about this. Cedar Point always (at least in the past 10 years) has built a ride that is the tallest, fastest, and steepest (usually all three but at least tallest) of its kind. Also, they have always built something unique to their market. For example, Raptor was the first inverted coaster in the region as well as the tallest and fastest. Same thing for Magnum, Mantis (PKI has a Standup, but it is fairly lame and gimmicky), Power Tower, Mean Streak (Beast is a woody but has an entirely different layout), ect...
So, I don't think we'll be seeing a floorless, flying, or record breaking woody next year (one because we already have SOB nearby, and two because we already have a wooden monstrosity collecting dust in the back). The market is already saturated with these ride types, and GP really won't notice a huge difference if CP installs something that is already present nearby.
So...
Excluding all of these ride types, where can CP go next? From where I see it, either a Thrust Air, or more likely, the 4th Dimension from Arrow. Why do I think a 4D is more likely? Because we already know their is a Thrust Air in the works that breaks the 300 foot mark and 100mph barrier in Japan and I really doubt that CP is anxious to beat ITSELF in the fastest coaster contest(MF), wich they would have to do if they wanted to get the fastest/steepest TA2k. So, IMO, 4d would be a logical choice. Plus, we would really bail a lot of hay if we beat MM in the thing that they just beat us in (something that we did with Goliath last year). History repeats itself.
What do you think?

[ This Message was edited by: sockit2me on 2001-05-07 19:19 ] |

I'm hoping for a B&M dive machine, you know like Oblivion.

The only concern I have about a 4d coaster and a B&M dive machine is that CP has this rule where they promise that their rides do not exceed 5 g's. The dive machines pull quite a bit, and who knows about the 4d.

I'm thinking that CP will try a 4D so they beat MM or tie them but i don't thinkk MM will let them take the title without a fight if CP ads 1 MM will add 2 if CP adds 2 MM will add 3. They aren't gonna wanna lose Their name of X-Tream Park right away.

I think CP is gonna get a B&M flying coaster, SW5 style. Even though I personally would much rather see an intamin sit-down LIM deca-looper, but thats me personally.

Keep it up intamin, you'll be on top in a few years! |

Why not a tilt coaster? I would love to see a virtical coaster or a B&M flying machine, but with 3 vekoma flyers out there already, one not too far away, why not try for something different? A tilt coaster would be plenty unigue and extreme in the U.S. I doubt a 4D because then it would look like they were copying SFMM, but who knows, I could be mistaken.

I dont think CP can get a flying coaster. I believe Paramount Parks has exclusive rights to the flying coaster for a few years, I could be wrong though.

Paramount Parks do not hold the exclusive for the Flying Dutchman from Vekoma. Six Flags is installing two of these right now, one in Ohio and one in Maryland.

STOP!!!!!!

THEY HAVE THE RIGHTS OF THE FLYING DUTCHMAN!!!!!!
They are in control of the building of new FD's in the next 3 years. Every year there are two parks who may place a FD. Paramount choose the location out of the interested parks!!!

René alias tha coastersking |

Hi Coastersking!

Where did you get those informations?

I only can agree with coasterkevin. Paramount does not hold any exlusive rights on Vekoma's flying dutchmen. I don't believe they can decide if a park can install such a coaster or not.

Does anybody out there know more?

Stay tuned

RMB
Hmm...I would LIKE for them to build a CCI or GCI wooden twister right on the boardwalk. Nothing too big or earthshaking, but a compact fun coaster to help us forget about the tragedy that is Mean Streak and the former glory that was The Blue Streak. I still can't deal with the head rests and electronic braking on Blue Streak. Oh well..

Also, a Wild Mouse or Mad Mouse would be easy to put on the boardwalk as well. At Nagashima Spaland, they have 2 Wild Mouses that mirror each other. With CP's crowds, it would make sense to build two right next to each other.
Paramount no longer has the rights to Stealth...as far as I know they were required to install one at one of their parks each year in order to keep the rights...and they did not do so...hence, Batwing and X-Flight.

As far as CP...I would love to see a custom CCI woodie, but am not crossing my fingers...

I think they may go for the Thrust Air, or a 4D...neither of which I would complain about. I think both of these innovations combined with the record breaking ability of CP would make for an awesome coaster. |
