List your favorite newer woodies that arent huge in height, but exceptional in continous speed and airtime and lateral G's. I have one off the bat that is a favorite of mine that I am very partial too and that is "ROAR". When at KnottsBerry almost 2years ago, GhostRider was shutdown when I was there because some of the wood came off track while ride was going. How is GhostRider?

I too am extremely partial to ROAR at SFA. It is my favorite and will remain so probably till June when I head out to Holiday World for a spin on the Raven, what is considered the best woodie in the world by almost everybody despite it being small. After ROAR would probably be the Thunderbolt at Kennywood (in the dark only).

Cornball Express. Not very tall, good speed for it's tallness, and awesome air. The original post for this is from before I was on this board:D.

Ghostrider is actually my favorite wooden coaster. It may not look that intense. Take one ride on it, and you'll change your mind. Ghostrider is one of the most intense woodies I've ever been on. When you head down the main drop, it feels as though you're going to fall out of the seat, even with all the restraints. Then, it slams you to the left and you go into a couple of out and back airtime hills. Then, it reverses back on itself, you head out and back again, then through a helix, and finally, back into the station.

GhostRider is the best on the planet! Their is no better wooden coaster on the face of God's great earth, the ride must have come from Heaven. I love this ride, it changed my opinion of wooden coasters compleatly, I now love them because this ride opened the world of wooden coasters to me.

Ghostrider is an Excellent woody and so Is Roar at SFMW. Ghostrider is full of air and is intense. Roar is a great twister and I love the trains. Thos two are must rides for any one and they are not that tall but pack a punch.

Your Kidding right! As far as I know Wildcat at Herchey Park was the first. It opened in 1996 if I'm correct. By the way I know a very long way.

GhostRider is a ride that plays mind tricks. You've heard so many good things about it, yet its size isn't up to par with some the newer giants that are opening. But this ride is probably the most intense, wild, out of control, decieving, constant accelerating rides ever built. Believe me, this is no bull. GhostRider is wild.

I didn't say that Roar was the first GCI. I said that Roar was the first GCI to use Millennium Flyer trains. I think I'm correct too. Can anyone back me up?

Yes you are right. Roar at MW was the first to use MF trains. While Wildcat uses PTC's. My wooden coaster list:
1.Wildcat@HP
2.LR@HP
3Roar@SFA
4.Thunderhawk@DP
5.Texas Giant
6.Comet@HP
7.Hercules@DP

sadly those are the only woodies i've been on. :(

I agree with the Roar concensus. I love that coaster.

Also think Boulder Dash is great.

Phoenix is my favorite out and back and Twister is a great reworking of a classic.

Good to see wood getting the attention it deserves on this boards dominated by steel.

Roar, all those twists and turns are just pure adrenalin, although the old wooden coasters bring back memories..........

One of the most underrated coasters (and my personal favorite):
The Villain at SFWOA. It is a CCI masterpiece, and gets little credit.
