Longer Coasters

I wish there were longer coasters! I liked the Beast because It was so long. I think coasters would be more enjoyable if they were a little longer. Dont get me wrong, short ones do have their charm, but why arent there more longer ones like the beast? Are they going to be more expensive? Would people ride them? Well anyways, gimme your thoughts on it. Thanks.

i agree, but then again hypers' [proportionally] shorter lengths pack the intensity (like b:tr's) quite nicely. there's advantages and disadvantages to almost everything in life. this is something [in life!]

I like longer coasters also. I think just sitting down for a few minutes and riding a great coaster is awesome.

i always think if this would be possible......a coaster that i get on in front of my house then it goes all over my town and eventually comes back. it would be like 15 miles long. would that be cool. and it could have a few differant stations so it would be like public transportation

that would be awesome. I want a coaster i can get on when im so tired form walking around in the park and waiting in line, give my feet a rest, and ride for 10 mins. That would be so sweet!

I think the main problems with a very long coaster are cost and space. PKI has plenty of spaces to accomdate 2 of the longest woodies in the world.

You'd also have to consider momentum -- the longer the ride, the higher the lift, unless you want to have multiple lift hills or use LIMS or stuff like that to boost the speed. Otherwise, the coaster could go on and on, but not really be doing anything. I'll take any coaster, long or short, as long as it's a good ride!

A coaster doesn't necessarily have to have a lot of space in order to be really long. I mean you could probably fit like 6,000 feet of track in a small space. A coaster like this would be like a twister: always diving in and out of its structure. Well, I do think having a long coaster speed around a bigger space would be better. I love terrain coasters like The Beast, Nitro, and Apollo's Chariot, so if they were to make a long coaster, it's got to have lots of scenery and great landscaping. Sigh, we all speak of theme parks getting long coasters so easily, but you gotta pay extra money for extra track. Long coasters are awesome because you have a lot of time to actually enjoy the ride, not like a ride that's really short and leaves you confused during the end. I agree they should make longer terrain coasters (6,000 feet or more) throughout the world. They're great!

How about a Cross Country coaster? It could climb mountains, and always stick to the terrain!

I have often thought the same thing... but then I started to wonder if there could be such a thing as a coaster that is TOO long... and I think there could be. I think that the Beast is a very good length. I think more coasters should be about that length. But if they were much longer, would it be sort of too much of a good thing? Maybe not, I'm just wondering.

I like long coasters and I wish that some of them were longer. Hypersonic XLC, for example, is way too short. Yes, I understand it's a first so it won't be as big as others to come, but they should have added a helix or something. 17 seconds? Almost too short to really enjoy IMO

Length is also a reason why I enjoy Mean Streak so much. The ride goes on and on, with many drops. Its overall length (and good looking structure :) ) make it my favorite wooden coaster.

But like others have said, many parks don't want to make them too long because of costs. Also, most parks nowadays are just trying to increase their coaster count, so they don't want to spend a lot of money.

The bigger the better and hopefully
THE LONGER!!!

I mean standing in a queue should
be worth it, also regarding the ride time,
4 minutes would a nice value!

While I like long coasters, you have to realize that they get more expensive when they get longer. Also, for a coaster to be really long, you would probably need more than one lift hill.

You know, I like long coasters. But not if they falsely advertise thier length. Like BKF for instance. Longest floorless rollercoaster in the world? Yeah, by a few feet of brake run.

MF is really long, you just go through it at such High speeds you hardly even notice and it seems so short.

yea who would want a really long ride that the train just crawls through that wouldnt be that much fun so they need to go fast until the break run.

It would have to be pretty high or use lIM's or something to make it go fast all the way

10 min its way too long. First of all the lines would be really long. And the ride itself would get boring eventually
