Non-Coaster Ride Info Needed

I am doing massive research on non-coaster rides at parks, the evidence of which you will be seeing on TN soon. I need some help on ride information that is not available, sketchy or unconfirmed. I will be posting rides often, so help out if you've been to the park and have some knowledge!

Here's the first two rides, both at Visionland in Alabama:
-Carousel. I know it is a Chance Carousel, but I've heard that this ride was relocated from Opryland. Can anyone confirm this?
-Cahaba Falls. This Log Flume opened with the park in 1998, but it is not listed on the park's website currently, and I don't see much talk about it in archived TR's. Is it still operating (SBNO perhaps)? Help!

-Thanks,
Bryan

Flatrides.com may help with the parks and manufacturers.

I'm very well aware of the manufacturers. I have a pretty good knowledge of flats,a dn I use flatrides.com as a reference. If you cannot help with the specific rides I posted, please do not post in this thread. Thank You.

The Carousel at Visionland I believe is relocated from Opryland, I'll dig through my parents' old pictures and see if I can figure out if it is or not.

Well Visionland's carousel is certainly not the Carousel on the Lake that was at Opryland. That one was on an undulating track with large rolling gondolas...a true one of a kind carousel. So gorgeous! I've never seen another like it anywhere. I've heard the evil Gaylord still has it in storage. Now the park also had a children's area which I can't recall if it had a carousel or not.

Well actualy, (if I'm not mistaken) in lator years (1991-1997) Opryland had a standard Chance Carousel.

You see, in 1987 Opryland decided that their beautiful 100+-year old German Gondola Carousel was no longer worth the extensive work required to keep it in tip top shape, so they dismantled it, and put a bird show in it's place.

Three years down the road, the park was evidently tired of getting complaints asking "Where the Merry-Go-Round?", so they quickly decided to buy a mini-Chance Carousel and place it where the authentic German one had sat. The park advertised it as the original antique, but this was nothing more than a fiber glass carnival ride.

From what I can tell, Gaylord Entertainment still had/has the antique in storage somewhere, they just didn't want to put it back up because of cost. Gaylord also kept the #2 "Rachel" steam locomotive from the Opryland Railroad, but it is currently up for sale at $300,000.

The Carousel at Visionland is probably the one at Opryland from 1991-1997.

Duke thanks for posting that link to the pics of the Carousel on the Lake. Ahh the memories. I don't think a more beautiful amusement device has ever been built.

Visionlands Cahaba Falls is definatly SBNO! I was there a couple of weeks ago and not only was the ride not operating it was barren of water and actually had weeds growing in it. I noticed the hill was removed as well.

I've added quite a few rides since I started at different parks...but I'm sort of at a loss with Castle Park in Riverside, CA. My best source for adding their non-coasters was a park map and a few photos. If anyone has any knowledge of the park, please contact me. I've contacted the park but am unsure if they'll respond. Here is a link to what I added:

http://www.thrillnetwork.com/park_view.php/60

Notice their Spider is title-sponsored by Terminix! Gotta love it. Although I hate the name of their Wave Swinger, Pepsi Challenge....

Also, I need help with a few rides at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

-Crazy Surf. I have no idea what it is.
-Spin Out: ditto
-Logger's Revenge (flume) Who made it? Arrow or Hopkins?
-Pirate Ship. Looks like a Huss, but I'm not sure.
-Tsunami. A himalaya ride, but who made it?

There was also a Chance Chaos here at one point, it might still be there...possibly Spin Out is it's name. Can anyone confirm if it is still there or not? If no, when was it removed?

While we are at it I have wondered for a while why there is a coaster not listed on the rides and parks page but now I think about it its not on rcdb either. Lake winnie used to have a wild mouse coaster way before wild lightnin and it was called mad mouse. I wish it was in your list so I could add it to my count.

You'll find everything you need to know on flatrides.com. Where they are located even.

^ Guys, you're missing the point. He's wanting to know the history and manufacturer of specific rides that are often made by more than one manufacturer. As much as I like flatrides.com, and highly recommend it, it does NOT have that kind of information.

However, Brian, I would suggest contacting Adam Sandy, the webmaster of that site and who I'm sure you contact with a few other ways and asking him. If he doesn't have a way of finding out for you, he may well know someone who does.

Crazy Surf is basically a small Rainbow, with one long row.
Spin Out is a Zamperla (?) mini-whip type ride.
Logger's Revenge was made basically in-house.
Pirate Ship- don't know. It's incredibly old, so it could be anyone's.
The Tsunami is most likely a Reverchon.

I haven't updated this in a while, but I need help from anyone that has been to Jenkinson's Boardwalk. I've only been able to dig up a few rides from that place.

I haven't seen these two flat rides anywhere, but they might be useful to whatever you're doing.

Hamanako Pal Pal has this thing, and I don't know what it is or who made it, but here are some links to pictures.

http://drkssk.fc2web.com/zekkyou/palpal/wild/wild.html

There's also this thing at Mt. Ikoma Amsuement Park.Again don't know the manufacturer.

Use this and search for a certain park and view each ride, or search the name of the ride.

I haven't Bean to Jenkinson's but here are a few links you may or may not have seen.
http://www.jenkinsons.com/rides.cfm?srch=Rides&bool=or

TPC
http://www.themeparkcritic.com/scrip...asp?ParkID=162

A local News paper had these rides listed in a 2006 article
Jenkinson’s South Amusement Park is an area filled with 27 rides, 13 of which are suitable for small children. The rides range from the carousel, to the Runaway Bus, the Spider, the Himalaya and the spinning Ferris Wheel.

There photo's show.
Zamperla Samba ride, Tilt-a-whirl, Moser Spring tower ride (10).

I hope tis helps!

I was wondering the same thing. It is listed, but the only rides listed are Cliffhanger and Tornado. I can sorta help there with few rides because I have only been there once and have forgotten ride names, etc.

Also the NASCAR Speedparks don't have all of the go-kart tracks listed.
Six Flags Over Georgia- Happy Motoring Freeway. All I know about it is that it was a dual track-figure eight, operated 1967-1975, replaced by The Great Gasp. And Wheelie was originally located behind The Great Gasp were Looping Starship was. I dont know when, but I'm guessing 1977? Can someone confirm that?

Water parks are a little slow coming. It's much harder to get information on those then Amusement park rides.

As for Go cart tracks. I'm not sure why they are not added to The NASCAR parks since they are a key attraction. Normally upcharge attractions at Amusement and theme parks aren't added. The focus is placed on the rides and major attractions. But thanks for pointing them out.
