B&M Coasters

Has anyone noticed that most of the new B&M coasters seem to be sucking because they're forceless.

Sheikra is an exception. It can pull and push on you like nothing else I've ridden.

I haven't rode any of the most recent B&M rides, but I have noticed that they now use static eddy brakes. Its a good way to decrease maintenance on the ride.

I know some B&M rides have relatively high track and support repair costs due to the high stress. Makes for a more fun ride, but also causes more mechanical downtime as well as a painfull ride at times.

I can kinda agree. The newest B&M i have ridden was Hydra (2004) and it did seem to be lacking alot in forces compared to all the other B&M Floorless coasters i have ridden.

I look foward to riding Shekira & Goliath soon to know for sure.

I'm probably wrong, but isn't it more the shaping of the elements than the forces? You can see a crazy difference between Hydra's cobra roll and Kumba's. I think the forces are there but its more flowy instead of the sudden spikes.

^^Hydra is 2005.

I don't know. Maybe they don't want to make forces. I personally like the less transitioned B&Ms a little more then those with constant turns. Like comparing Alpengeist with Silver Bullet. You can just tell, by looking at trackwork, which is older.

I've always though the rail between Raptor's station and lift was a bit odd. The rail has a short section where the curvature is very high. Much higher than I've seen on any other coaster.

^I thought it's like that on all B&M's stations and brake runs.

Do you have a pic of that Raptor radius? This was the best I could find.

B&m

Well the floorless models certainly feel less forceful, I think they were created to appeal to all ages. I know most parks feel that really forceful coasters eliminates ceratin riders which means they're less likely to re-ride and re-visit.

Most modern B&Ms are built to appeal to the whole family since most large parks already have the more forceful rides anyway.

Still, there are very few B&Ms I don't like, forceless or not.
