Arrow Expedition Everest Stereo Audio Tour with Ride Thru - On Ride PHOTOS

Hi all,

I'm new to the TN forums...nice to be here. I'm a theme park junkie but, mostly, a Disney Theme Park fan. I was at the Expedition Everest Annual Passholder Preview in January and recorded an entire soundseeing tour in stereo of the experience for my podcast called, "The Meandering Mouse." Of course, the audio contains a ride thru of this new coaster at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Just thought some of you may enjoy hearing it. My sig contains a link to the podcast itself if you would like to subscribe. Of course, you can subscribe using ITunes. NO IPOD NEEDED TO LISTEN TO PODCASTS. You can download or listen to the MP3 right on the site:

Click Here for a Short Promo Clip

Here is a direct link to the Expedition Everest show you may listen to.

Click To Listen To Expedition Everest Show with Stereo Ride Thru Audio - 30 mins

In the next post down, you will see a series of ON RIDE PHOTOS I took while previewing the attraction. Great Stuff!

I've included a link back to The ThrillNetwork on The Meandering Mouse website per sig guidelines. I'm not here as an advertiser. The show is completely FREE to listen to! It's just for fun and I'm looking to share.

Of course, it's not the most extreme coaster in Orlando. But it's, hands down, the nicest looking and THE MOST FUN out of anything I've seen or taken a ride on in the entire area. What a gorgeous engineering achievement....a well built coaster with a solid amount of show elements.

As far as fun factor goes, I would put Universal's The Mummy right behind it and then we have The Tower of Terror. The Mummy is a damn fun ride...almost worth the price of admin to Uni

I'd take Everest over Mummy any day.

And no, the helix doesn't pull 4 gs. I thought it was kinda weak actually.

^ Really? I liked the theme of Mummy a little better and definately thought the roller coaster part was better. Plus, Mummy does its transitions better wheras Everest is pretty crappy in that aspect. Everest is good but Mummy is spectacular.. IMHO :-)

The backwards helix part was actually prety cool but it just plain died

By the way dude, nice site

Welcome to the site Jeff; glad to have you on board! It's always great to see another enthusiast from our south Texas area.

And those pics are incredible; I can't believe what that last one is showing with the helix. What is the ride actually like?

Well, the main lift hill is AMAZING. It's very smooth and VERY fast as you travel up thru the temple and into the Mountain. The best part of the lift are the views...you can see the ENTIRE WDW resort from that lift...it's awe inspiring. The pic of the Helix was taken from the top of the lift off to the left.

I don't think it pulls 4 G's through that Helix...possibly 2.5. I mean, it's a Disney coaster so they have to kinda keep it tame to appeal to as many people as possible.

You come to the top of the mountain, stop at the chicken of death / torn up track, the track piece behind the train, at that point, flips over (really weird to watch) and prepares you for the backwards portion of the ride which is one of the most thrilling portions...it is PITCH BLACK while you roll backwards down the first Helix...the G's get up there and it disoriented me quite a bit. After that, the train stops inside the mountain where you see the shadow of the Yeti ripping the track apart. The track piece in front of the train flips over in order to send the train out of the mountain down the main hill. It then shoots down and back up into the mountain thru another dark cave where the Yeti is screaming at you...out of the mountain and into the HUGE Helix you go...it seems to go on and on and on....back into the Mountain and down the last hill thru the dark banking to the right...it's pitch dark again and the Yeti is there...it seems to almost grab you as you fly underneath him.

That's the best I can do....check out the soundseeing tour of it on my podcast. There is a full stereo ride thru. I rode the thing 24 times trying to get the best audio experience and it turned out really nice. I think you'll like it.

I LOVE the ride...not extreme but just plain fun with a lot of nice show elements...it will look amazing after a year or so when the landscaping grows in.

I got to ride this two weeks ago. I heard some craptalking about the ride but I still used my hopper pass to go to animal kingdom for the last hour the park was open and I got on the ride twice.

The backwards part was awesome, the rest of the ride was two. The animatronic Yeti was not only amazing but very intimidating and I even got a little bit freaked out. That thing swung its arm really close to the track, and really smoothly too, what a great ride.

The animatronic is better than any other I have ever seen, yes even better than Imhotep on Mummy.

I wish I could go to WDW and ride this. I may be able to in 2009.... And that's a bit away but at least there's a chance. And then all of the foliage will be grown in real well! Those are some really nice pics. It shows the massive amounts of money Disney puts into its rides!

You are totally right. I think once those trees and foliage grow in, that place will be AMAZING!!! Thanks for the kudos on the pics. I still look at them in awe...what a coaster!!!!

I wasn't that impressed. Yes it has awesome theming (some of the best on any ride or queue I've seen), but the ride itself is just average. It's way too tame and Disney could have done a lot better for all the money they spent on that ride.

Head over to Universal or Busch Gardens to get a much better thrill.

Don't get me wrong, Everest is a fun ride, just don't go in thinking it's going to be the "best ride ever." It's a VERY mild ride.

No rules against taking pics on Everest that I've seen.
