The only ones that will have legal POV's are SFMM itself. The only other ones that I can think of that might get it haven't hinted yet that they're able to get them. And frankly, outside of one person who posts here, I can't think of anyone that would possibly get POV's legitmately.

In other words, unless your initials are RA, don't bother even mentioning that you have one if you do. And since they're supposedly searching for cameras, I doubt you'll see one anyways.

Hey everyone!

Tatsu Media Day & Camp Out Photo & Video Update POSTED!
http://www.themeparkreview.com/tatsumediad...sumediaday1.htm

If you were registered for the camp out via Theme Park Review, at least a chick was there to check you in.

Oh, I see how it goes....everyone shows up when the FOOD is here!!!

Yes, we are dorks...those ARE coaster videos you see on the wall! (But we watched Family Guy too!)

And then....around 4 am, a BRIGHT light appears on the horizon. Tatsu has awaken!

Somewhere around 5am we were led back to Tatsu to start riding!

"I'm ready for doggy style position!"

Tatsu kicks ass. Especially when it duels with Revolution!

First of all, Elissa and I would like to thank everyone who showed up to the camp out last night. We had nearly 200 people show up and it wouldn't have been as much fun without all of you!

In the end, everything worked out GREAT! The camp out was fun, Tatsu is GREAT, and we got to ride many, many times. There was even plenty of free food for breakfast and lunch. (Gotta love Vault ICEE's Wes!)

I have posted 4 pages of photos along with 2 videos and an audio interview with Six Flags President and CEO, Mark Shaprio. There was some very interesting things said, so I'd reccomend checking that out!

And of course, our TPR Camp Out video has some very funny moments in it.

Thanks again to everyone!

--Robb

ps. As for our video with POV, we are working on that now and will have something up next week! (POV comes from the park's B-Roll, FYI)

Over on the SFMM 2006 thread there is a POV posted by the park you can go to.

Wow a campout on hard concrete.

And there is also a very accurate TATSU recreation by Ballerboi on weeweeslap.com. It's for SM. There is a video though, so you don't have to have the game to watch it.

Hehe, that would be the RA initials that I was refering to. You're about the only one I can think of that would have POV that was done with permission.

Robb has a relationship with many parks in the US and outside. He has worked with them for over 10 years and they trust him with his cameras.

Great work Robb, can't wait to see more! Looks like you guys had a blast!

Nice TR Robb as usual. Tatsu looks great, and I'll admit that is better than I thought it would be. I still think it will be over rated for the best coaster contests, but this still looks like a great coaster.

Great pictures Robb. It looked like you guys had a blast at the campout. I wish I could have been there. Any chance of one for El Toro? So, how forceful is the pretzel loop? If it is anywhere as forceful as S:UF, which I have a feeling it is much more forceful, than it must be great.

I posted a review on Tatsu here. It is insane. By far the best Flyer I've ridden.

Also....

http://interestalert.com/story/sitei...=Entertainment

http://www.prnewswire.com/broadcast/...consumer.shtml

Haha. Magic Mountain is really getting Tatsu out there. Jessica Alba, Paris Hilton, Sophia Bush, Vince Young, Maroon 5, Nick Stahl, Matthew Perry, Shannon Elizabeth, Danny Masterston, Nick Cannon, Seth Green, Linkin Park, Lacey Chabert, Korn, Michelle Trachtenberg, Will Estes, Macy Gray, and Scott Caan, were only a select few of a huge group (click on link to see the rest) of celebrities that walked the red carpet to Magic Mountain to preview Tatsu in a special event. I can see where the park was going with this ---- national tabloids showing celebrities on Tatsu, that'll get people to notice the new coaster nationwide, easily.

and.............

In addition to the Looney Tunes and Justice League costumed characters around the park, the park has also staffed "Ninjas" to patrol the Japanese-themed Samurai Summit themed area atop the park's highest hill. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a36...1/CIMG0935.jpg

I didn't wake up to notice til now that we have our first outside corkscrew on a flyer! Welcome to the jungle Tatsu. I think this will be like Raptor - leading a 2nd generation of the B&M flyers. Everyone on the West Coast who haven't experienced the very awesome forces of the Pretzel loop - Enjoy! It'll squeeze the "Wow!!!" out of you.

I rode it Yesterday (Saturday May 13) 4 times with the assistance of 2 fast passes, and yes it's awesome no doubt, but I must say if you want to ride you have a few choices to make this more enjoyable:

1. You should get there well before the park opens because everyone is going to this ride first.

2. Or buy a fast pass - I found that to be the best way to go because the regular line was timed at over 4 hours all day and night. The lines started all the way down the hill to Deja-Vu and that's a long-lonnnnnnnng way back up!

The only thing with the fast pass, during the day your restricted to only rows 7 and 8. Those are some powerful forces in those seats, but at around 8pm they allowed fast pass holders to pick any row so then we got our first front row seat which we ended up stoping at the top of the lift for about 3 minutes and it was truely wicked looking down at all the people in roaring rapids line taking pictures and videos of us just stuck. I kept imagining that harness opening up and we all fall to our deaths. I thought Deja-Vu was scary like that but Tatsu is way scarier to think about. The front also has some Heavy g's not only in that Pretzel loop which is a little extreme but also in that helix/turnaround at the end. Great ride!

Is the pretzel just as forceful as SUF's pretzel? Because the pretzel loop on SUF seemed like a little too much for me.

NICE! I'll be getting my first taste of the pretzel loop in June on SUF at SFOG, sure it can't compare, but a much better colors in my opinion...lol got to pinpoint something. From what I've seen though, I don't like how tacky the top of Tatsu's station is, like Robb said it reminds me of McDonalds. But the coaster...amazing. That pretzel loop...that damn pretzel loop...

I only have one problem with Tatsu... It looks so out of place.

It just stands out and the ugly colors of the supports only rubs salt in my wounds!

Overall I LOVE this ride but still, it just, stands out!

Timed at over 4 hours all day and night? Try close to 5 hours at some points during the day all day yesterday! Even crazier? The Flashpass line wait was ONE AND A HALF HOURS! LOL. Dan Leavelle at RCPro is one of Tatsu's operators and that's what he said.

Magic Mountain sells four Flashpass tickets for $15. They only sell a limited amount per day, and yesterday for Tatsu's opening, for the first time in God knows how long, they actually sold out.

Eh, I thought the same thing too when I looked at photographs, but it's not until you see it in person that it doesn't really "look out of place." The color scheme of the ride is actually very bright and energetic, and quite beautiful to look at, especially the "ugly colors of the supports." And I think it's supposed to stand-out. Otherwise, they wouldn't have chosen those colors.

I spoke briefly with somebody that looked like a mechanic standing by just in case there were any problems on Friday and he said the inverted pretzel loop pulls between 4.5 - 5.0 G's.

I asked the same question about the G's and I was told about 5 as well, and you can really feel them pound on. Actually starting the pretzel it's like going from big floater G's to extreme positive G's.

I have no issues with the colors or the station top, it looks so much better in person, and to be completely honest you'll probably never even be thinking of it while your there. People are just finding things to pick at right now. As long as it's flying over your head, that's where your focus will be.

As for the fast passes, they sell them in blocks, they stop selling them for a few hours and then resume later in the day. Well this is how it was scheduled
(10am - 2pm) and (5pm - 7pm) That happened when I was trying to get them, I had to wait until after 5pm to get mine.

I must say while my buddy's and I were stuck on the lift at the top of the lift, that was probably one of the scariest things to happen to me at an Amusement Park ever!!!

That's what happened when I tried to buy one at GAdv. Anyway, I wouldn't mind being stuck at the top of Tatsu if it was just a few minutes. I bet the view was awesome. Just resist the temptation to spit down at people! Lol.

Not really, if too many people are injured on rides, they have to alter them for that reason, not just because of some peoples preference.

I'm not one of those dorky kids that like to spit on people so that wasn't an issue. As for the view from the lift, well you can't really look too far in either direction because your pretty much looking down most of the time, but anyway it was getting dark. All we could see were the people below, the flashing of cameras at us and hear all the laughs and boo's because we were stuck. When we started back up there was an ocean of cheers, I thought that was great. Well, we weren't broken down thank god. When we pulled back in the workers were saying sorry for the inconvinence but Tatsu has started traveling too fast. I'm not sure exactly what that meant? but we got those cool free ride (Inconvinence passes)

Either the Coaster is getting faster with more use or they are exceeding the target capacity time. I've never seen any coaster crew load and send passengers as fast as they are doing with Tatsu - I'm so impressed with that.

BTR didn't bother me at all. What I don't like is being pressed against my back that hard. That's why I don't like rotors either. And it would probably take some money to get me on Mission: Space. I don't mind g-forces except when it's on your back.

Maybe it's just me, but for some reason I don't think they will end up trimming (or activating the trim on) the Pretzel Loop. Yes, it is intense, but you have to remember they have done force tests on this thing before it opened. I hope they leave it just like it is. As far as it being like the S:UF Pretzel Loop, I will be able to compare the two after riding the original S:UF next weekend. I hear the forces are about the same.

As far as the ride looking out of place, the area really does look different with Tatsu. I don't think it looks bad at all, and congrats to the park for really making an effort to put the area back together. When all the new trees and landscaping go in it will look great.

And a comment about getting stuck on the lift: that happened to me on Media Day. We were E-Stopped a little over halfway up the lift. Now, I have no problem with the trains, the restraints or any of that-these are some of the safest, most comfortable restraints I have ridden in. I have no problem "trusting the restraints" on either Tatsu or X to hold me in. But the just hanging there facing down like that REALLY got to me and I started hyperventilating after a few minutes. Once we got going again, I was fine. (This is the reason I still have not been on Deja Vu, afraid of getting stuck up on the first spike!)

With Matt I finally agree for once. The pretzel loop on SUF just gets me all exuberant and very giddily I'd ask to push the limit even more - give me more G forces to see if I can take it! I'm sure Tatsu matches and maybe adds a little more in the pretzel loop. I was @ SFMM last year for my first visits. I HAD to get on X; I think I can still wait years before I get back over to ride Tatsu. Great looking ride; exciting to see the Flyers go in a new direction but I can wait. Whizzer I'm more concerned about.

Yeah, Tatsu looks simply amazing. I think this will change the overall bad rep of flyers. This ride looks way better than X!

^^It's way more comfortable that's for sure. But this coaster is probably the best thing to happen to this park in a really long time. I'm going to Atlanta on the 24th of this month and I'll be there until June 1st, so I'll also get the chance to ride Superman UF and Goliath.
