Kings Island clearing land!

there are pictures posted that a clearing has been made next to flight of fear on the side where the copter ride used to be. http://photos.pkicentral.com/thumbnails.php?album=177 If x-flight isn't going there, something must be.

Very interesting. It seems kind of goofy tucked away back there like that. PKI has too many loose ends IMO. The Beast is kind of off the beaten path as well as Son of Beast. Top Gun is way the heck back there all alone, and FoF is just kind of chillin behind Racer. If they put X Flight there, I hope they make some kind of a loop around to the theatre between Racer's turnarounds. There is just no flow to certain areas of the park, and this adds to that, even though it will give people two reasons to head back to that area now.

I couldn't agree more.

And XFlight will be a great addition to PKI!

That would be awesome. Finally a flying coaster closer to home. But is the lad clearing big enough for X-flight?

I definitly appears big enough to be for X Flight. You know what is funny though? The flying coaster is going in next to Flight of Fear. What are they going to name it? Flight of Fear....er? You don't want two coasters with flight as the theme right next to eachother. Put that with Top Gun, and we have a very nice trend going on here. Jets, space ships, and...um...flying people. lol

My gosh. PKI needs Flight Commander and Flying Eagle there to make a new section called "Flight Zone" and change it to "Fright Zone" for Fearfest. (Don't I wish about the Flying Eagle!!!!)

I have a Strong feeling that this definately answers all our questions about X-Flight, but don't you think someone would have said something by now?

Sense we are in the rumors area. What if CF bought SFNOs batman and its goin to put it in PKI. No other B&Ms in the local market, doesnt compet with Raptor.
But really its anybodies guess as to what is going to happen with Xflight or the new construction area at PKI. Really it could be anything. Heck they could have even of bought Zonga for PKI. You just never know.

Or they could just be building a new maintenance facility. After all, it is right next it. I could only hope for a new section. They have plenty of space back there. Really, I think King's Island uses their real estate more than any other park know of. Look how some of their major coasters reach way out of the park into the woods or land away from the midways. They need a good B&M hyper like Nitro, or AC that takes you out through the hilly wooded terrain and back. They need a hyper anyway. They do also need an Inverted coaster, but if X-Flight is indeed coming over there, that seems a little iffy for the near future.

Kings Island is a great park.
X Flight will be a great addition.
Though. I do agree with yu when you say they need a hyper.

So with the land clearing, and if X-Flight goes to PKI, do you think it will be ready for 2007?

PKI doesn't NEED any coaster.

If X-flight does go here, would it go under a new name and/or paint job?

Would it really cost $10 million for a recycled ride?

Transport is expensive. Even if it's only 200 miles. Plus you have to move ground and pour footings.

First off SFI is keeping SFNO's B:TR in the chain<where iet will end up is anyone's guess>.Second:CF is now in debt after aqquiring the paramount parks so they're not about to spend cash on a used B&M to stick in one of their parks.

Finally we do not know for certain where XF is going yet....a bunch of fanboys of any particular park all wishing for it to come to their "homepark" isn't exactly gonna make it so.They could be clearing land behind FOF for any number of reasons...none of which neccessarily guarantee that it's for a new coaster for the 07 season.

Rumors get circulated around the net pretty quickly these days<not just park rumors either>....all it takes is for one person to come on a forum & say "ohh we're getting that ride that they just took out of park "x" just because there's land clearing at park "Y" & then before you know it that rumor is spreading like wildfire.

Are you trying to sound smart? What's your point? This IS a rumor thread.

How much did X-flight cost?
I believe X-Flight was in the ballpark of around $13-$17 million, adjusted according to how much the prototype Stealth (now BORG Assimilator) costed.

However, Kings Island would not be spending $10,000,000 on a ride being moved from a sister park. There would costs only involved in dismantling, relocating, and reinstallation. Those costs, though expensive, would never approach $1 million, let alone $10 million.

So I find it a bit strange. At this point, I'm not ready to believe that X-Flight is going to Kings Island.

I agree. Building a coaster, that is making all the parts and whatnot is what makes up the multi-million prices. Transporting it, possibly repainting it and all the construction things might cost a couple million at most, but nowhere near 10 million. Why would they spend that much money on a used ride just being transported elsewhere?

Does this mean there might still be a chance at MIA getting X-Flight? or am I just dreaming?

^ Personally, I think your Dreaming. Otherwise MIA would have been mentioned in this...

My guess is PKI is getting X-Flight, but also coming with it is a new mini section or plaza centered around X-flight. With perhaps a restaurant, or a store, and maybe a/some small family/kiddie flats. Or maybe their will be just some general park improvments (and dont forget SOB, which they have to spend money on the modify)

Well 2007 is a week away. Perhaps people will finally start announcing things. I know SFI, even though the secret is basically already out, that Marine World is changing the name to Discovery Kingdom. Etc.

The new KBF coaster is costing $8 million. If PKI is spending $10 million, then it's either a big used coaster or a new coaster, more mid sized. Since CF already owns X-Flight, it doesn't cost $10 million to move it to a park a few hundred miles away. Even if PKI is getting X-Flight, they're getting something else too.

Hopefully X-Flight won't be going there, X-Flight isn't worthy of operation, but of scrap metal. If they want a real flying coaster, they really need to get a B&M one, not a used Vekoma.
