Hey guys,
I'm new at riding drop towers. I just rode my first one at kings dominion 7/23, and absolutly loved it. I just wanted every one's opinions on these rides and what is everyones favorite. Thanks

I like the Moser Spring rides. Those have some mad hops/airtime.

I thought Supreme Scream at Knott's Berry Farm was an amazing drop ride. The anticipation is overwhelming sitting at the top of a 325ft tall tower awaiting to be launched down at any second.

Sky Screamer at MarineLand.

400ft up in the air with an amazing view of Niagara Falls while you're waiting at the top.

The tower ot Terror is the greatest. The theming adds so much to it.

A close second is Dr. Doom's Fear Fall at IOA.

I like the S&S super towers, mostly because they get a "bounce" effect instead of just a single drop (my favorite of those being Power Tower). The Intamin 2nd gen. drop towers replicate falling the best though, IMO.

I prefer the Intamin's (1st and 2nd Gen) over the S&S Towers, they're really not the same type of ride at all though... when it comes down to the sensation they create at least.

I enjoyed Acrophobia at SFOG, especially because of the tilting effect, and I really enjoy any 1st gen, and of course, I'm partial to Dungeon Drop from my old home park, although there really wasn't much special about it except the cool views it offered of Houston and Reliant.

1. Acrophobia - The ride creats an amazing tilting effect! It gets me every time.

2. Geronimo Drop - The view is great! It made me forget about the drop the first time. Even though it is not tall, it has a great experience.

3. Freefall (Intamin 1st gen) - I love these drop towers. I'm disappointed that many parks are getting rid of them.

yes! They are the best!
screw the bounce on s&s... Intamin drops get right to the point, it's a waste of time bouncing up and down... That makes the line longer too.

I like supreme screms and as i recall isn't it only 275 not 325? I could be wrong though.

Drop zone at great america is awesome..

Oh I forgot about that one! The tilt is awesome, but it's not the most comfortable drop tower.

Of the drop towers I've ridden I would say that Carowinds' Drop Zone is my least favorite. It goes up, you hang a few seconds and then you hear a click and you go down a second later. It doesn't really feel like you are dropping at 50 mph IMO. The reason I don't like it much is because it is so short by the time you drop a little bit, you're slowing down. KDs Drop Zone blows Carowinds' away.

Actually, Supreme Scream is 254 Ft. tall.

My favorite drop tower is Tower of Terror at DCA. Simply because you only have a seatbelt to hold you in your seat, compared to Supreme Screams OTSR's.

TOT@WDW is my favorite drop tower. Then comes Demon Drop a close second.

My favorite is Drop Zone at KI, but Drop Zone at Como Town is second.

Just a request for clarification; You like Demon Drop over Power Tower? That seems odd as Demon Drop is 20 or so years older that Power Tower.

I'm not critisizing your choices. Everyone is entitled. It just seems odd to me that anyone would select Demon Drop over the newer towers.

^ Most S&S towers are just BLAH... Once you start to drop.. They slow up right away so you just drop "fast" but dont get the airtime you get on an intamin tower when dropping.. My butt always plants in the seat on an S&S tower right away... Where as on an Intamin tower (or Fabbri.. or ARM...) its off the seat till the end.

So add me to the list of people who like Demon Drop over Power Tower.

^^Demon Drop easily beats Power Tower in my book. James is exactly right. It's like that with pretty much every S&S tower (excluding a few Space Shots and Double Shots). Their massive Turbo Drops feel like Parachute Drops and their massive Space Shots feel like MF's lift. Demon Drop is much more powerful and the drop feels longer than it is.

Yeah I like most of the Double Shots I have been on.. Canobies and IN Beachs really stand out as great ones... Turbo Drops I really only like for the view when sitting at the top.
I hate Space Shots as they dont do anything for me.. But I'll ride them if the park doesnt have a Turbo Drop or Combo tower.

^^Yeah, I agree for the most part. I do like Space Shots if they aren't part of a combo tower. Those are usually good (eg. Detonator at Worlds of Fun).

On a completely different and unrelated note, I dreamt last night that Space Shot at Adventureland pulled an RCT and flew off the top, only to land in a tree in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Go figure.

My favorite S&S "Power Tower" ride is Dr. Doom's Fearfall, I hate the ones where its just freefall though, those suck since the only air you get is right when it lets you go, which is the scariest part.

My favorite drop ride is a tie: TOT at WDW and Drop Zone at Carowinds (I haven't been on PKD's), Drop Zone's air was insane and it actually succeeded in scaring me. Second would be Demon Drop, the air on that ride is great too.

In 2007 it's Geronimo at Ghost Town in the Sky for me followed by Drop Zone at PKD. I prefer the spinning action of the KI one.
