that would be kind of cool, but at the same time I would be so freaked out.
Are there anti-roll back things at the top of it? And where is the elevator?

Steven and I were there when it happened in 2005. We were on Magnum. It's incredibly rare, as they say in the blog.

I love that they documented it and got pictures of the riders. It must have been a cold or windy day to only be loading the first two rows.

I'm still looking for my first "rollback! rollback! rollback!" on Kingda Ka. I shop at Target but this is the one kind of Rollback I'll take. That's more likely than this freak of an occurrence. How long will it take til occurence three?

The elevator is on the back part of the tower. If you go up close to it you will see a long white metal shaft in the middle going up. It also has what are doors on 3 to 4 parts of the middle of the tower. 1 on each of the middle parts. Alot dont know its on the ride but it is. There are no anti-roll backs on it.

That would be an awesome experience. When I rode KK, I always wished it would stay at the peak for longer to give me a chance to see everything. It would be a great view to sit up there.

It does have magnetic fins though. So if it rolls back, you don't go crashing through the station backwards.

I'd love to have this happen to me, but on a day like last June when it was 80 and not cold an windy. lol

I would love to get stuck at the top as well. It's a very nice view from up there. Sadly i'm still waiting on my first rollback as well.

It could happen three times in a row next weekend, it's just highly unlikely.

If you flipped a coin ten times and got tails ten times, does that mean next time it will definitely be heads? The chance is 50/50 everytime you throw the coin, not cumulative.

So while each launch has a 1/80,000 chance of stopping at the top, it doesn't mean it happens once every 80,000 launches, especially because there are environmental factors involved.

Clearly this has happened more than twice on TTD. Go back and find Byron's TR from CP (I think in 03 or 04) He stated in his TR he saw it stalled on the top of the hill but didnt take a photo because a photo wouldn't have shown it "stopped"

The impression I get is that it's a 1 out 80,000 chance with people on it. If it's an empty train, I guess the odds would be better to stall at the top. In the trip report, did it say if it was empty or with riders?

If you want a roll back, you'll have to go to Wal-Mart, not Target. ;-)

I've still yet to be on a roll back on any ride. Only time it was really close was several years back when KD did a walk back to volcano on a chilly day and on the first train launched with people it practically stood still while exiting the mountain.

It's happened twice with riders. It's maybe happened five or six times empty.

Coasterlove, I was implying I try avoiding Walmart unless they have that good single serve lemon pie or a diecast vehicle I like. Yeah, I like that hobby too.

This is a first quoting myself.

I went back and found his tr. This is all he said.

As I was going to the bathroom, I noticed some people pointing and laughing. I looked in the direction they were pointing and saw TTD heading down the wrong side of the tophat. About 10 minutes later, as I was heading to lunch (a late lunch at about 3:50). I saw more people pointing and laughing, so naturally I looked. And What do I see? TTD's train sitting perfectly balanced at the top of the hill. I started to take a picture of it but then realized it would be pointless, since there would be no way to tell that the train wasn't moving. so I just looked at it as we went to lunch at Macaroni's, which was great by the way.
Edit - TR was posted on 08-06-2003

Looking at that now, I think I did read that before. I wonder if it was with riders but I doubt it since Cedar Point certainly didn't try to keep this event a secret so I think they would've mentioned then, especially since that would've been the first time. Also, in the trip report, it doesn't seem like it was made out to be a big event so I would think it was empty. If I saw it with riders stalled at the top, I would've thought it was interesting to see and watch for a while and specifically mention it with more detail in the trip report.

I've been on TTD about 10 times or so I think. So if I ride it another 79,990 times, I should have a reasonable chance of getting stuck on top.

Ah. It was empty from the day that trip report was. That was a day or two after my first year working at the park, and a friend of mine called me and said the train stalled empty up top.

It would be a mfunj experience. How often would a ride not perform as expected and you would enjoy the experience more?
