Most anticipated coaster of 2009

Which new opening are you all looking forward to the most?

For me it's definitely Manta, I'll probably have to make my second ever trip to Orlando for it.

The poll took me a long time to make sorry.

It seems there are a lot of new and innovative coasters this year, so let me help you with the choices you may not know about:

Anubis

Eurofighters, there is a launched one as well as a few others:
http://rcdb.com/id3936.htm
http://rcdb.com/id3723.htm
http://rcdb.com/id4121.htm

Insane is a new Zacspin

iSpeed, a very tall and fast new LSM coaster in Italy

Mumbo Jumbo is like Steel Hawg

A small accelerator coaster for another park in Italy

Tranan, a new concept from S&S called eagle coaster

The Flying Dutchman makes it's return as a new concept that Vekoma calls the Stingray, being built in China

A GCI coaster for Germany

And of course, the new Happy Valley, this one in Shanghai, will be receiving two highly anticipated coasters, Fireball from Gravity Group and a B&M Diving Machine

Well, I'm not sure when I'll get to rise some of the ones being built but right now my vote goes for one of the new Orlando coasters.
I still want to see what Manta will look like with the theming and aquariums, so right now I'll say Hollywood: Rip Ride and Rocket.

Fairly I have to see Hollywood Rockit go up finally in Orlando before I make a call. Flying Turns and Cliffhanger are so many years behind.

Flying turns is my pick. Though who knows if it will open.

Out of the coasters opening Wild Mouse at funtown Splashtown USA is at this time the only one I know I will hit.

I'm torn between Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit coaster & Manta. I'm looking foward to both. Maybe Universal's more.

Diamondback looks the most promising, although I'm hundreds of miles away.

Eh. At least I'll have a new GCI to look forward to.

^More like thousands of miles away.

I'm really into all these new compact thrillers; S&S's El Loco, Vekoma's Stingray, and Intamin's ZacSpin all look so cool. I'd like to see a ZacSpin built in the U.S. soon.

I wish that there would be one.It would be a nice compact ride to put in CP.It's getting to be too crowded there.

Hard to pick out of all the rides that are getting done this year. There is a lot of cool new concepts, and some new designs from some manufactures. I guess if I had to pick what looks cool to me.
No particular order.
Ispeed looks pretty cool.
Blue Fire also looks interesting.
Manta is good but is nothing on the order of Best.
The new S&S concept looks good but problematic.
So no real best of, but look wish I could ride some of the rides that the US simply dont build.

While Diamondback is at my home park and everyone's excited about it around here, I voted for Flying Turns because it's a return of a currently extinct design, so I find that even cooler.

I know that I already said Diamondback, but,I'm also pretty psyched for Flying Turns. It's a nice bobsled. You don't see too many of those anymore. Hopefully the ride will spark some interest in the classic design and cause an increase in the number of bobsled rides built each year.

Flying turns are a specific version of bobsled coaster - that being that they're made of wood instead of steel. The last known operating flying turns coaster was demolished in the 70's, so this makes Flying Turns at Knoebels even more special, IMO, because it really is an extinct type of coaster.

And bobsled coasters, I've always thought, are really cool. Yeah, they aren't able to handle many of the 'thrilling' elements that traditional tracked coasters can, but they're a unique beast on their own and I think it's cool to be sliding down a tube with no tracks holding you in!

There are several for me. Diamondback, being very near my home, is probably the winner, but I'm also looking forward to *hopefully* riding manta next summer, and others in the future as well. But I'm gonna have to say Diamondback. However, that S&S Eagle Coaster looks sweet. They could do SO much with that concept.

My vote is for Blue Fire because this is Mack Rides 1st Launching Coaster and with Six Flags having an Obsession with Mack (Dark Knight, Buccaneer, Etc.) especially after the free trip, It Could Possibly result in Mack LIM Coasters at Six Flags Parks.

I voted for Diamondback at KI. I love B&M hyper coasters. I got to see it being built this year when I visited, but chances are I won't get to ride it until 2011 or 2012.

Of all of these new rides I am likely to only ride Flying Turns and the Medusa revamp next year. Flying Turns looks neat, but I don't think there'll be a resurgence of this ride type. The Medusa revamp does nothing for me.

I actually voted for "other". The Serpent is coming to mid-michigan next year. I know it isn't a very exciting new coaster but it will probably be the only new experience for me next year.

I think Manta will be the most exciting but It will be a few years before I can think about packing up the family to head for Orlando. My son is just too young at this time.

I LOVE Ohio. Diamondback is an hour and 20 mins from me. Can't wait. Will be there on opening and/or media day.

Apparently that Stingray coaster in China is already done and testing:

unknown (Suzhou Giant Wheel Park)

The design looks cool but short. I'm sure they could extend something like that lower to the ground before ending it. I wonder how well it operates though. Complex systems are the last thing we need on a Vekoma coaster.

Yea, but can you imagine a flying dutchman tilt coaster?
A head first drop to the ground in lie position would be awesome. I can't see the force working too well in fly position, but still...

Speaking of tilt coasters, we need to see more of those.

How would the forces be any different than the pull out on the drops the Batwing or Firehawk have. Adding a new way to start the drop isnt gonna make a big difference in the ending of it.

In flying position, a pull out from a vertical drop seems like it would need to have a larger radius to dampen the forces.
Neither Batwing nor Firehawk have vertical drops.

^That's true, unless the pull out ends with you on your back, just like on the Stingray. The brake run of the coaster does that.

Or a pretzel loop on a B&M.

Well look how steep the drop is on the Stringray unknown (Suzhou Giant Wheel Park) thats pretty damn steep. I'm sure if they wanted to, they could do a vert drop.

If the electrical system on that coaster failed just before it reached the top you'd have a second gen Intamin freefall.
