How did you come up with these lists?

What makes Beast so deserving of your second spot? and uh Mean Steak? Texas Giant?

Why is SFA the "worst coaster park"?

Not really a good idea to judge things you haven't experienced first hand.. or taken a poll of.

Edit - Hmm.. Kinda strange that "Evel Kenieval" is the BEST new ride of the year... Yet "Ravine Flyer 2" made your top list (it ALSO being a new for 08 ride.).. and its "Evel Knievel"

So Ravine Flyer.. clearly "your" #8 doesn't get "best new ride" but a coaster not on the top 8, does?

Good points. I tried to change the list according to your suggestions., but how would your lists go?

Actually, maybe I shouldn't do this, as like you said, I should experience these coasters first hand or at least take a poll. Maybe I'll just stick to the 2009 coaster preview on my site.

Yeah, it's hard to judge things you've never been on. I have to contest Maverick as the best steel coaster - it seriously was not that amazing. I rode it and was totally not impressed with it, not enough to want to wait in a 2 hour line to ride it again. Top 8, maybe, but not number 1.

http://www.thrillnetwork.com/boards/...al-awards.html

If you want opinions, check out the thread above. Page 5 or 6 has the results of what ThrillNetwork thinks are the best in the industry.

Other then that, I wouldn't be putting any awards on any website if the owner of the website hasn't even been to most if not all the parks on said list.

So, you're making best and worst lists of coasters you have not ridden, and have not taken a poll of?

Your enthusiasm is excellent. It's darned impressive. Your site is great, too. But this list and this thread are pretty dodgy.

If you want to put some type of awards on your site, you might want to consider Mitch Hawkers poll. It seems to be a lot more accurate at times than the golden tickets.

What about calling the awards Great Parks We've Never been To, and then looking at all of the opinions on coasters around the web. That could be a creative award that nobody has ever done.

My other option would be to stick with the 2009 coaster preview, and start with like the top 20 steel and wooden coasters from Mitch Hawker's Poll and make 4 videos with five of the top 20 in each.

Those kind of awards just don't make any sense and really have no merit. In all honesty. You might want to think up something else. You have a disney website, why don't you do polls or awards on disney stuff. At least then you have merit about it.

If you do a 2009 preview, that's fine, but just use what parks have put out or construction pictures taken with the photographers permission. If you do videos, make sure they have all the permission and stuff before you post them.

Maybe you could set up a poll- let visitors vote on the different categories you came up with. If you do, make a thread here inviting TN members over to vote in the poll. Let "great coasters of the past" have a write-in section, as there are a ton of defunct coasters that still have fans. I'll come over and vote if you do.

This thread has run its course, though.
