High Speed Thrill Coaster Removal

The rumors are true. The High Speed Thrill Coaster is being removed at Knoebels. I lucked out very much that my aunt's company had a picnic at Knoebels this summer and I got to bank on this credit. I recalled how very abrupt the coaster cars articulated toward each other in the quick hills. It was neat how the coaster dropped over a boat ride canal below. I'm thankful to beat the removal to get this coaster. I get some I lose some when it comes to credits. Knoebels - General There is a pic on the 'Scape of the half removed first drop.

A bit sad. another coaster I will never get the chance to ride. I had to cancel a trip this last summer do to the high gas prices.

Well its not like you missed much. It was a kiddie coaster. No matter how amazing you've heard people say it was. It was just a kiddie coaster.

On James' site there's a great caption that goes with the video for this ride. "Best kiddie ride ever" or something like that. Fun sarcasm.

Best or not. its STILL just a kiddie
Its not like its worth traveling hours and hours for. (Unlike say... the greenish woodie on the other side of the park...)

I'm glad that's really not much more than 3 hours for me to get to it. If I can get the nearby Yuengling brewery tour since I'm now old enough.

I thought HSTC was a great kiddie. But, I bank it nothing but that. I was glad I got to ride it over multiple visits during PPP for about 3-4 years. It was really a fun little ride to get a giggle out of adults with.

I got my first ride on HSTC as an adult this past season. I am glad I rode it, because I am not sure I ever rode it as a child (probably), but it is just a kiddie coaster. Best kiddie coaster ever, yes. But I'll trade an HSTC for a Flying Turns anyday (any year now...)

Funny that we both got the credit for the first time last summer.

It will be interesting to see what they replace it with. there seems to be a lot of attractions in the area. I doubt they would put in another oval coaster. but how could they install something larger. I don't know the height limit on the coasters but I would imagine this leaves a gap in the coaster on the low height range.

I could see them getting the Zamp kiddie coaster (like many SF parks have). Knoebels has more than a few Zamp rides as it is.. And have worked with them for a good 15 years now.

While I havn't been on HSTC I could guarantee that woudl be a down grade. the Zamperla kiddie coasters are terrible.

Well.. As far as kids go. They wont know the difference. And I was thinking along the lines of something that will fit in the same area.. Over the boat rides river.
And the park has a history of going with Zamp.

Nobody has bought or Built the Former "Little Eagle" from Myrtle Beach Pavilion.

And actually, I think thats where they might build the "Relocated Golden Nugget."

I foresee a Woodstock Express, coaster with a helix and return. The coaster I wouldn't be surprised could be called High Speed Coaster II.

Woodstock (Dorney) being the Zamp kiddie coaster I mentioned in my last 2 posts.

As far as Nugget does.. I don't see it going where HSTC was unless they remove the boat canal ride.

That boat ride is going nowhere. It's been there since the Vikings came to America. I think we could see the nugget be rebuilt in the back of the park, somewhere between or around the Phoenix and Twister. Has anyone been on the nugget, and if so, is it worthwhile? Knoebel's attractions are generally very good, and from what little I know about the Golden Nugget, it doesn't seem that great.

Is the Bread Loaf shaped building near where High Speed was and Power Surge used for anything? I'm holding out hope they would bring another coaster to High Speed's side, something of moderate Gold Nugget length.

The Golden Nugget was extremely tame as a roller coaster, not as wild as the High Speed Thrill Coaster. The big attraction was the stunts inside, a scary ride for little kids and a place for teenage boys to take their girlfriends. I always considered it a darkride rather than a coaster although technically it is an old-fashioned scenic which is why I'd like to see it up and running. If you're looking for an exciting coaster ride this ain't it, as I believe it's the first coaster I took my daughter on years ago when she was just 3.
