Question another person wants to build a roller coaster

ok I know. Another person to hopelessly fail and waste money on a nonworking piece of junk. But what do you think this would do?

Now this is a very rough draft of the design (could not get any worse unless it was on a napkin.) but what would happen is, the car (one person) would start at the top, roll down, and go straight up the tree. now this should not cost too much considering it would not be that long, and it would be some round steel tubes (not sure how much they cost) but should have a higher thrill, then a little round about coaster.

I live on 20 acres and have farm fields around me. so its not like I would have neighbor problems.
What do you think?

I will try to get more details and pics.

Hey, I say go for it. It looks good and sounds like it would be fun. If i had the land i would have built my own by now but i do have some woods and a creek behind my house so maybe i could do a mini splashdown!!!!

Can't wait to see more pictures.

I've built tree houses and half pipes and always thought a roller coaster would be an awesome way to release my construction style of energy.

You gotta understand a couple things about projects of this magnitude:

-Your always going to spend more than you think, so decide if its really worth a healthy chunk of change, and if you're willing to dump more money in it if things don't go as planned (a halfway done roller coaster cause you can't pay for it anymore is no fun).

-Are you working with metal or wood? There are benefits to both, but what's going to be easier to build or design? Do you have the tools necessary to bend piping if you need to? Do you know how to bend metal piping (its a trade, not something you can just pick up and do)?

-To make a legitimate wood coaster, say, 50 feet long, I'd guess you'd be in the hole $5,000 + just to build the structure (wood and fasteners), and I think that's a pretty skinny estimate.

Then you still have to build and design a coaster car to work in, good luck with those bogeys and up stop wheels.

I'm not trying to discourage you, I just wanna make sure you're thinking about this realistically. If you've got 10 grand that you just wanna put to some handwork and accomplishment (which I whole-heartedly sympathize with, I'm the same way) do it but be ready to put a lot of sweat into it. Because you'll be sick of it less than 1/2 way through if things aren't going as planned.

I say if you're fortunate enough to afford it, and wanna put it into action go for it. You've already got a basic idea, that's where to start. I wish I could make something like this!

Are you trying to build a real life Mr. Freeze/Speed coaster with a spike ending? That element is even too weird for real life professional companies that a handful dead end spikes exist in the world (not counting Impulses). I'd stick to even the more amateur run out with no particular end than be stuck in a constant rollback.

I'll gladly take your $10,000 and put it towards a Honda Fit.

I think that would be cool, but I think you should win the lottery and contact B&M for a B&M flyer!

Who would want a B&M flyer when you could pick *any* kind of coaster to own.

I'd rather have a B&M Invert. All the inversions with the hanging swag.

I'd get a B&M floorless flying dive coaster with every other row of seats replaced by a row of pivoting machine guns.

I'm trying to figure out how much it costs, and how much time it would take. The thing is, if I spend the money on this I would not be able to go on a cedar point/kings Island trip (which would cost about $500 for a 6 day trip) I'm not sure if I could even build anything with $500? What I need to do is go to home depot and look at prices. It would be a little easier then a coaster that goes around and and has hills. where as this only goes down, then straight up.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!!!

It would do good if it were launched, and called "An Hero".

Everytime I ride a coaster, it valleys. I've never been on a stalled coaster or had one roll back (except Wicked Twister and what was Superman: Ultimate Escape, which does that by design).

The only way I could make it launched is if I had a big elastic band of some sort.
Hmm...that could be interesting!
