Looks awesome, but do you have any information about price or availability?

Awesome? It looks lame as hell.

It's the restraints opening that look really cool. I was hoping for more hammerhead like banked curves. It kind of looks like an early B&M such as Vortex.

| Yea, but it also looks a little smaller than the other sets and could be cheaper. Making it awesome for anyone that couldn't have afforded one beforehand. Although, I could be wrong.

The supports and the grid below looks a lot smaller. Perhaps this will move the price down. I still regret I didn't jump on a set I saw in person at a "As seen on TV" kind of store, but I don't think it's something you would see on tv in a Toll free number commercial. That was in the higher price bracket though so I guess I did right still.

| Yeah man, screw YOUR opinion, lol. IMO the layout has much to be desired, but that station/restraint mechanism they got going on is sick. I just can't see myself spending 400 dollars on the sets they already offer, so either I'm waiting for a cheaper model(I would be surprised if this set is less than 300 which still is a lot of dough for plastic) or I'm waiting for the prices to drop (which they won't). In short, me wants but can't afford. But seriously, a Blu Ray PS3 or this? I think I'd vote PS3. |

| Spoken like a true enthusiast! LOL A couple things that need to be pointed out....it really doesn't matter if you like or dislike this layout because you can custom build anything you want with optional parts (so you can bail on this layout anytime). This kit will probably sell for between $100 and $150. Expansion packs are $30 for an extra 14' of track and supports. Cheap enough. Plus it is easy to build, so even someone as simple as Jerry S can build it! Quote:

I would love to have one but the price is keeping me from buying. Hopefully this set is a the cheapest one so far. The layout is boring but those restraints are slick.

Only a $100. That's getting much closer to the range of Legos. Legos could get pricey but if I could get around 100 blocks per $10 I would be paying a good market rate, maybe getting a deal depending on the set. That seems more breathable, realistic this current Phoenix arrangement. If you can make a model like SDC's Wildfire that's a good deal. The abbreviated supports remind me of B&M's current efforts like on Behemoth. Comet, Scorpion, and Phoenix are still all the same gauge track?

^I love Legos. They can get pricey. It depends on the type of brick. I probably have about $5000 worth of Legos. Back on topic, I didn't know about these until recently but they look cool. I'll have to get some when I get the money.

So there are the pros and cons of having the abbreviated supported base. I was already sizing up possible turns and whether they could go around cobra rolls I'd like to make with the Phoenix base.

The Scorpion/Dragon are very customizeable. In fact, if you have one of the models or parts, you can order sit down style trains from the site, so the track can be built however you want. This one looks totally different. Last edited by Jerry S; 03-13-2009 at 03:36 AM. |

I noticed the park line where you could buy an Alpengeist train (Nice!) and a Hydra train (Boo!).

I'm not sure why this point gets overlooked. Just because the standard Knex Screamin Serpent has a drop into a loop doesn't mean you can't make your own designs. This is no different. |

They hope by the end of this month that the new kit will be released. There are a couple places on the internet that you can get the new kit when it comes out for about $100.00. There are also places on the internet that you can pick up a Scorpion for about $130.00 brand new. The new kits are going to be cool. They are a simpler version to put together then the previous kits but with extra parts can do all the same stuff. The Phoenix as mentioned will have pre made pieces and will also have the other flex track pieces so that you can make any kind of model you want. The new kit has some pre molded piece such as turns and some up and down bends along with new lift hill pieces. Its battery powered, has a working station and you can get LED lift lights. I love my CD collection. I have a bunch of different trains, and a large collection of CD parts to build with. Look in my website for a large collection of models, addons and other info about Coaster Dynamix.

Thanks for explaining the premold pieces Johnny. The Scorpion is starting to look good.

The molded pieces are made in 22 degree increments. Both up and down. Lift hill and or straingt pieces will be about 13 inchs long. The turns on this modlel are pre molded but you can use the flex.. If you look in this picture you can see.. http://www.johnnyupsidedown.com/cd/cd10a.jpg See top of the loop. The top of the loop sections are the premolded pieces. Then from the blue support connection down is the flex track. The Phoenix is a little less complicated to build then the Scorpion kits. The Phoenix is ment to be a more or less store bought item. Something for the younger ones. Anyway. The models are fun to play with and can be used to make any combination of rides. Go here is you want to see all my coasters I have built along with mods and other info about CD go here. http://www.johnnyupsidedown.com/cd.html

^I like your dueling inverts #2. They remind me of Dueling Dragons.

If I could buy another Scorpion sized base the Scorpion set is looking more likely for me. The duelings inverts Johnny look pretty cool. It's almost Batman vs. Mr Freeze: The Ride.

You can buy spare parts or more parts if you need.. Best thing is to get a Scorpion kit and build the Scorpion model. Then start with building other small custom models. Then you can get an idea on how much more stuff you may want to build larger coasters.. There are also expansion packs, that contain a few extra parts of each piece. Color is another thing to consider.. Yellow track and marroon supports and grey running rails are the Scorpion and Dragon colors http://www.johnnyupsidedown.com/cd/ic10a.jpg . The new Phoenix comes in red track, blue supports and yellow running rails. There is also Blue and Light Blue, that you can order but you can only get them in amounts of each piece. http://www.johnnyupsidedown.com/cd/ic129a.jpg Catalog of pieces and such... CoasterDynamix - Catalog If you want to read through the instructions to see how its done go here,.. http://www.coasterdynamix.com/images/scorpion.pdf If you have any questions about CD just ask. I know alot about the product. J>

Inverted Coaster #6 looks sick. http://www.johnnyupsidedown.com/cd/ic129a.jpg It shows how the supports could put the track over the reach of the base to maximize space. There's a loopscrew too. With a Scorpion base I could foresee building a SLC model with a real loop though.
