| GL Steel Venom over Go Karts?
Did Superman/Steel Venom at Geauga Lake ride over a go cart track at the front spike? I've only been to the park when both towers were gone and just the horizontal section remained. Looking at Google Earth I see go kart track where I guess the front spike still extended. I suppose with the low body go carts could drive underneath the ride. I would bet there were clearance warning signs for park employees at the go cart attraction.

No. I don't think so. Of course I could be wrong. Anyone want to prove me wrong? I don't think there was a go-kart track that close to SR 43.

I just noticed Mapquest has an older pic of the park with X-Flight still up. It looks like S:UE really did pass over the go carts. I'd like to hear from someone that was on the ride though.

Heres a good/ok photo of it Head Spin Pictures - Coasterimage.com you can see the SUE/SV was pretty high off the ground, unlike at Dorney where its pretty much on ground level.. The was even a roof over the track where the coaster passed over. |

Thanks for that pic. It figures they would most likely put a roof over the track where the coaster passes over. They do that with most rides @ SFGADV. Watching some Youtube videos I saw how at the height of the ride platform it was above the heads of people waiting in queue. I think it's at least a quarter of that height at Dorney. The footers had to be huge at Geauga Lake.

I can't remember very well but I know the go kart seemed close to it. As for clearance, I don't think it would have been any issue. To enter the queue and pass through the line had walk under the spike (rear, I think?) before entering the station. V2 at SFGAm has you walk under the rear spike as well but when you leave. Most if not all the single twisted spike impulse coasters are elevated. I only know Wicked Twister to not be elevated since their "mechanical building" is underground.

Did Geauga's queue approach under the straight spike seem a bit below ground? At Dorney it was almost at level when you walk under the straight spike. There is a queue roof there to protect from flying objects. There may be a slight ramp then afterwards up to the station. Dorney has that foam floor in the station that makes me wonder if I'll stub my toe on it. The train sits high enough.

SUE/Steel Venom had concrete floor, Wicked Twister has the foam padding. Either way, I don't think the train sits low enough to catch a loose shoelace.
